A 50 hour oil change would be like changing the oil every 1250 miles figured at 25 MPH for every hour and we know that isn't happening in real life at least not with my RTV. Mostly it is running about half throttle and a lot of time just idling but the clock is still running on it. I go by the 200 hour change recommended for it OR yearly which ever comes first.

I'm not arguing with the 200 hr change interval but the engine usage of a UTV isn't a direct comparison with an on the road vehicle. Think of all the stop and go and short trips you do with a utv vs a truck....that activity is harder on the engine/oil than driving a 50 on the highway for hours on end.

To clear up any confusion -- well, perhaps to add to it -- here's a document that I turned up.

View attachment 02-intervals-rtv.pdf

I purchased my RTV 900 late in 2009 and my manual recommends changing the oil at 100 hr. intervals. The manual page posted earlier is dated April 2010, so the change in recommendations must have occurred about that time.

This attachment also shows that the transmission oil should be changed at the 50 hour mark, but my manual doesn't recommend that change until the 400 hour mark. I say that without having my manual in front of me. I think I followed all of the recommendations in the manual and I know I did not change that fluid.

I looked at my 3 1/2 year old RTV1140 manual and it says change engine oil, oil filter and hyd filters at 50 hours which I did. Then change oil and oil filter at 200 hours. Believe hyd fluid was at 400 hours. Just did oil and oil filter at 100 hours but I'll probably wait till 200 hours before doing next one.
I recently did a 150 hours change of oil, oil filter and hyd filter on my F2680 at 150 hours, My 50 hour change of oil, oil filter and hyd filter at 50 hours on my F3080 and the oil, oil filter and one hyd filter on my B2620 at it's 50 hours. I'm getting confused.:confused2: Maybe they'll get spaced out and I can start reading the owners manual on each one before doing more changes.
Good news is all 4 of them take the same oil filter and oil.
And SUDT/SUDT2 which I have several, several gallons on hand from purchasing several Kubotas. Probably will never have to buy any more during my life time. Also multiple tubes of grease from buying when on sale at Farm World.

Absolutely love my 900xt. The thing is a tank. We have several steep hills that I usually haul wood up and it climbs them with no problem whatsoever. I've had logs up to the top of the ROPS and it still makes it. I use it primarily for collecting sap during sugaring season and have a tubing line that's 1/2 mile across a field. I plow the snow with it - and don't even have a plow for it! Goes right through most snow without a problem - as long as it's not too deep or wet. I'm sure chains would help it even more though. It definitely is not a speed machine, but it would tow any of those speed machines out of a ditch south a problem. A true workhorse! My neighbor has a Cub Cadet. He's always admiring my 900 and what it can do.

We really love our 1100. I thought it would be a great addition to the farm especially for my wife. I was actually surprised at how handy it has turned out to be. I just did the 50 hour service this past weekend, but it has already proven a great decision.

Old thread, I know, but...

My daughter wants an RTV for her farm, probably a 900. She asked me to check them out, prices etc. I know nothing. But I have had a couple of small Kubota tractors with diesel. How many hours are too much? I see a couple near us with 1500 hours. That doesn't seem too high to me.

She wants a windshield, maybe a roof. She is outdoors 365 days a year regardless of the wind, rain, snow etc. -- you know, like the mail carriers.
What comes standard, what optionally and what options are important? Its a horse farm, feeding grain, square bales 2-3 times a day.

Thanks.

Like any piece of machinery, used gear is all about the maintenance. Look for something that has good records, and appears to have been taken care of.

There's a healthy aftermarket for tops, windows, doors, etc if Kubota isn't supplying parts for a particular model any more.

Prior to 2014 (I think) they had a wicked deceleration valve - let off the throttle at speed and it'll try to toss you thru the windshield. You can get aftermarket parts that fix that. Seems to be fixed in my 2014 X900.

I'd be sure to get one with a hydraulic dump bed. It seems to have been standard on most models, but there may be some out there optioned differently.
