MF245 traded for a Kubota M4900
I have been reading posts about tractors here Great web site with so much info.
I have a MF 245 2 wheel drive and had my mind set on M5040 w/FEL will it have more power than my 245?

I was starting to think maybe I should try to get the M6040 I didn't know how much better the 5040 would be than my MF 245 the 245 is the only tractor I've had so I don't have that much experience with tractors.

Personally I'd go with the M6040. It's got 55 HP PTO, it uses a slightly larger displacement engine than the M5040. You did not say if you planned on 4wd, but if you do go with 4wd then it provides a little more drawbar pulling power.
Also, if you go with 4wd the hydraulic shuttle is very nice, you should test drive one.
So, I'd recommend an M6040HD with FEL! How's that!

OK maybe I'm getting ahead of myself. Do you need more power than what you have with the MF 245?

I planning on get the hydr. shuttle and 4 wheel drive my 245 the FEL is so slow I have a 6' bushhog and grade my drive way which is steep my 245 can't pull the yard box up the hill loaded the wheels spin but the 4x4 should take care of that I hope... I think the 245 only pumps about 4 gal. a minute

From what you say you are looking for I don't know that it's horsepower but pulling power and the four wheel drive would give you that.

Grading uphill is tough - but even 35hp 4wd would pull better than the 2wd 245. 4 gpm is small flow to run a loader - you'll like having more. Happy hunting.
