No problems yet. Okay, I'll amend that - the WIX/NAPA's are white, and stick out like a sore thumb on my bikes, so, I paint 'em with some heat-resistant black paint first. /forums/images/graemlins/laugh.gif

Change the filter and the oil regularly, as more than one poster's mentioned, and I don't think there'll be any problems.

If I'm not mistaken, I believe I saw some nice looking finned filter covers at: www.summitracing.com and even Fram sells chrome covered MC filters. But, you probably already knew that. /forums/images/graemlins/smile.gif

The NAPA gold filters have changed from white to black shells recently on the top fastest moving part numbers, more to change later. The anti-drainback valve has changed to a red silicone versus black on most models that were not already equipped so.

Allright!! Now I won't have to thread 'em onto my finger to hold while I paint 'em. /forums/images/graemlins/smile.gif That is, once I use up the 3 or 4 that I have stockpiled, and haven't painted yet. /forums/images/graemlins/frown.gif

I don't know about those chrome ones - they'll draw everyone's attention to the fact that I don't keep the bike as clean/polished as I should. /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif

Take them back and swap the unpainted ones as most stores have both colors mixed in stock.

There are people who have web sites that show the results of experiments on the filtering capacity of oil filters.

I have read that WIX is very, very good in comparison to FRAM, for example.

Personally, I don't think it really makes much difference to those of us who change filters regularly.

I have been using Fram for over 40 years. I have used other brands as well. While I worked for Cummins I used Fleetguard(Cummins owned Fleetguard then). I have never had an engine failure because of an oil filter. I suspect the little differences between the filters would make little difference in filtration for us. Eventually someone will get the bad filter that EVERY manufacturer makes and they will have an engine failure and diss that brand from then on. It is normal for a person to think what they use is best and it is for you because you think it so. I use Fram because I always have but use others from time to time. I don't think a filter company will rebuild your engine because of filter failure reguardless of what their warranty says. They will weasel out some way.

I started using Wix filters about 3 years ago. Until then, I used Deere filters on my Deere, and Fram filters on everything else. Then a new NAPA store opened close to home (Yes, NAPA filters are Wix.)

After mentioning to my Massey dealer that I'd switched to NAPA, he let me know that he carried Wix, and would start stocking all the part #'s I regularly bought. (Deere, Ford and Massey. I recently sold my tired old Ford 3000) Since then, I've switched to Wix air, fuel, oil, and hydraulic filters on my tractors and truck.

I noticed when I switched that the oil in my Massey 150 was LESS dirty at the end of a "duty cycle". Apparently, the Wix filter had caught more dirt. And that's a good thing.

In the next month or so, I'm going to break down and buy a new (or close to new) tractor. I'll be using Wix from the get-go.
