Thanks to everyone for the comments and feedback. I went over to the Kubota dealer today and drove the tractor around their demo field. Then I drove the Kiota around the lot and a grass field. Both tractors were excellent. This is going to be tough choice - they are both excellent machines.

You won't be disappointed with either. I had the same dilemma and got Kioti due to price. Actually, I spent the difference on implements and am glad I did it (got a backhoe which I never would have gotten around to buying after the fact).

Good luck, we want pictures when you've bought.

Wallace -- You're not partial or anything (since your are a Kioti dealer) :D:D

Actually no...I own a Mahindra 3510hst and a Kioti DK40SEcab and if my wife will let me I would like to add a Massey GC2410 for my son to maintain our yard.:D

Like I tell my customers....The tractor is only half the purchase, you need to purchase a good dealer with that tractor.

That's why I own 2 different brands and maybe I will add my 3 brand this summer...I like my dealer!:D

I think all 3 are good tractors but I am with you and the pricing of JD. They are good tractors for the most part but many people just buy them because of the name.

If it were up to me I would get the Kioti. I have looked at them all and I like it the best. I guess I am biased though. Never owned a Kioti but like solid heavy tractors. So many manufactures are venturing away from this making basically big lawn mowers that are a joke to me.

I went through the same thing several years ago. Local, 10 miles, Kubota dealer is a very good dealer, pricing was okay, a little better than other Kubota dealers I talked with. The JD dealer, right next to the Kubota dealer, acted like he was doing me a favor 'bothering' to get me a quote. When I did get the quote, it showed he had discounted the machine 15%... which brought the pricing down to what was listed on the JD web page!!?? The Kioti dealer is 65 miles away, not the best dealer, but other Kioti dealers available on web are great. The key reason I choose the Kioti was because I preferred the ergonomics of it over the Kubota, the $3k lower price was the icing on the cake. Machine now has 355 hrs on it, I have only had 2 issues with it. A leaky fuel filter bowl which is a known issue on the older machines, fixed with a different material on the newer machines. Also, I think I have a blown seal in the backhoe dipper cylinder. The dipper doesn't seem to have the power it once did, it no longer moves the machine around and doesn't pull through the dirt well. I will be checking that out when the snow goes away. That will be $20 in seals and an hr's work to fix.. I hope.

I have had a Kioti DK45SE for the better part of two years and it has been a good tractor. Other than oil changes I have only had to adjust the HST pedals once which is fairly common.
Since I had never operated a tractor before I am thinking the Kioti should get extra points for living thru my learning curve. ;o}
If money was no object a bigger machine(65-70 HP) with a cab would be the ultimate. I am also partial to both Deere's and Kubota's and both those brands have dealers much closer to the farm than Kioti does. Since money is an object and I have presumed far too heavily on my wife's good graces in taking up farming I am very happy to have what I have and to be able to get out and use it a couple of half days a week.

Warhammer

Hi all,

I am looking for a tractor to help develop my dream. We purchased 68 acres of virgin land and are developing it into hopefully a goat farm (long story). We have been hiring a professional with a 953 track loader to do the heavy lifting. He has cleared some fields, a perimeter fence line and is working on a pond. But there is still tons of lighter work and we need a tractor with a FEL to finish some clearing and move brush and hopefully keep up with chores. We started with a 1948 8N which has been great with the rake and box blade. It even acts like a skidder with the pole boom. The problem is we are having trouble with some hills as the 8n has neither 4 wd or a locking differential. The maintenance on the 8n is getting old as well We all love the 8n and it will always have a place on the farm, but we do need something beefier to maintain the fence line so to speak. So with all the choices on the market I would very much like to hear others opinions regarding recommendations. We are thinking the 40-50 hp range with a FEL. HST is no big deal to us as we are all used to the 8n. Our biggest issue now is cash so the brands with the 0% interest are very appealing. After sitting in dozens of tractors, we feel very comfortable in a JD5045E, Kubota MX4700 and Kioti DS 4110. If money were no object, we would be going with the JD first, Kubota second, and Kioti third. All three local dealers have been great. The biggest problem we face is trying to decide if it is worth paying the green premium which in this case is about 7K over the Kioti and 3.5K over the Kubota. The Kioti is hands down the lowest price and also has the best warranty. We worry that a few years into this we may regret not purchasing the better name brand. We change our mind regularly between the Kioti and Kubota. We are turned off by the excessive JD premium, but it is a nice tractor. In the mean time the 8N is still chugging and the time may run out for the 0% interest but that FEL and 4WD would be sweet. Any opinions? Good experiences or bad experiences with these tractors?

If you're concerned about Kioti quality in the long-term, take some time and read through the Kioti section of this forum. I think you'll find that Kioti has a loyal following of very satisfied customers. I bought my tractor last year based purely on price and dealer location, and I couldn't be happier. My CK27 is a monster for its size. I haven't had the first problem whatsoever in 120 hours...but yes, it's still practically brand new. But I plan on keeping this one until I either outgrow it or the wheels fall plumb off.

I have a friend that had a Kioti. Pushing on some brush piles with the loader and the loader arms bent like a bad paper clip.

Then the tranny hung in reverse so he could only drive backwards

I do not recommend them. Def go with deere or Kubota

Your information is very non-specific in nature. No model number, year, etc.etc.

I am sure this really happened and the machine was not abused or used improperly at all too! I call BS, they bent the loader arms pushing brush. Yeah okay...
Reading through your previous posts, it's obvious your a Deere fan and will put down every other manufacturer just to promote your own equipment. You even said "Kubota's oil pump is no where near big enough. Their hydraulics are SO SLOW" It's sad really.

My 2006 Kioti CK20HST has been bullet proof. It has just under 400 hours and works year round pulling stumps, grading roads, digging up rocks, installing culverts, blowing snow, etc... It gets worked but never skips a beat and always impresses me even 5 years later with what I can do with it. The warranty is up now but I am not worried as I haven't needed it yet and hopefully never will. That Kubota or Deere may get you a few grand more as a trade or private sale but you also pay a few grand more up front so it is a moot point.

You will be happy and well served by any of these tractors but one will keep thousands more in your pocket which should make you much more happy. :D
