Seems to me the " slights" ( attacks) are coming from JD or kubota owners. The kioti owners are defending their tractor and asking why they think or where they think the big 3 are better stronger etc. . And I'm a kubota owner!

The thing that gets me riled a bit is when it is stated that these are considerably inferior. (comparison to junk tools) My hand tool comparison would be more like "Craftsman vs Snap on" For my use on a my dairy farm and now on my 12 acres, I can't justify the snap on brand.

A bit of history -been around since 1947 - produced about 40000 engines last year. Not a fly by night operation.

I assume as they become more established in the US that the price difference will diminish. I was looking for a used Kubota or one of the more common brands a year ago when I bought the Kioti. Knew nothing about it until I found this site. I was satisfied by my research that it would meet my needs and since they've been manufacturing machinery for 60 years I decided to take the chance. The other factor for me was that I was more interested in traction than power. Other than for a few hours of running the rototiller last summer, power has not been an issue. I suppose I could have saved an hour with 10hp extra. To buy a new unit from the big 3 in the 3100lb range (about 4000lb with FEL) was not even in the same ballpark. I actually paid $1000+ more than some of the Bobcat deals of last summer. Depending on your needs the extra weight may be a negative.

A little comparison - Hyundai was almost laughable a few years ago - now they are one of the fastest growing brands in the US. I certainly don't look down on the big 3 or many of the others.

When I was in the market I looked at all the tractors in the 25 to 35 HP range, I never seen one that I really didn't like, compared prices and the dealerships, the nearest tractor dealer to me is about 75 miles away. (Most of the people here are commercial fishermen)
I walked into the closest Kioti dealer asked what the price (CK25) was including FEL,BH,Chipper, and rough cut mower, got the price,I said ," you got a deal" I didn't even sit in the seat, dealer wanted me to test drive it however at that point I was sick and tired of looking and getting more confused with specs, prices etc. Now I have bought equipment from this dealer before so I knew who I was dealing with.
When it was time to cut the check, the actual price was 3000 dollars less than he quoted,I asked the owner and was advised that he done the dickering for me and gave me the best possible price.
The reason I say this is; yes they are all GOOD tractors however its the dealer that makes them a better tractor,22 months and 600 hours later I have no regrets and would do the exact thing again,in fact a DK 45 with cab looks good, have to wait and see when my income tax is done, than I may have to go for a 75 mile drive....Hmmmmm.

Tailrotor,

You still have not provided any data to substantiate your claims. Have you done mechanic work on Kiotis? Do you know of the metalurgy differences? Etc. etc.? You've given nothing to backup what you say. And that's the kind of thing that riles me.

I've been pretty critical of my own brand. I know what it is and is not. I'm not one of those diehard defenders. I just will not stand by and let someone proport facts they cannot substantiate.

Is initial owner quality better, in general, with Kubota? I can agree with that. There is evidence to support it, affected by many factors, including dealer prep. Is part by part of Kubota better? I've seen nothing to support that claim.

Don't you think the bashing of one brand over another is mainly the poster trying to justify his purchase of his brand in an effort to defend his purchase and reinforce his buying decision ? The old Ford vs. Chevy battles from days gone by. As long as you have access to a good diesel mechanic buy what you like. Dealerships come and go but good mechanics are around you just have to find them.

Hi guys,

I am going to close this thread because I think the debate could go on forever. It looks like there was some good discussion exchanged and hopefully those making the comparison will find the objective opinions to be useful.

No sense in things getting testy between members over which shade of orange they prefer. :)

Thank you,
