Not snark......sarc!
Unfortunately the law didn't go far enough. Maybe you folks should have just repealed the law in place?I live in Oregon, which sadly has become the biggest nanny state in the union. The fact that there are complainers regarding having to pump your own gas is no surprise.
All of us that live in rural areas have been asking for the ability to pump our own gas. When you live in the middle of nowhere and there is only one gas station in town, and it's closed, you are just out of luck. That really sucks! This new law is one that this state has passed that I agree with.
Not having to wait and rely on some bozo to do a simple task.It has nothing to do with Oregon folks figuring out anything. Don't assume we have the IQ of cheese heads,. Oregon is ruled by Democrats; final answer.
Still unanswered: what is so great about pumping your own gas?
Exactly! That's the wrong question. The question is: "Why *shouldn't* anyone be able to pump their own gas?"
It's easy to do. It's not dangerous. It is not messy. Don't have to wait for someone else to do it. Saves money by not requiring an employee to do it. It also aids in personal responsibility and independence, as evidenced by all the wailing from some OR folks who feel they can't/won't/shouldn't have to do it themselves vs. 48 other states' worth of people who seem OK handling it.
One fuel related law that we do have here that is stupid and well deserving of any and all ridicule is that when the nozzle shuts off, they can't 'round up' to an even number, as that would of course result in thousands of gallons spewing out and creating a superfund site at every gas station in the state, going from $23.43 to $23.50.
So if you have one of those finicky filler necks it could take several visits to get a fill up.
I agree, with current modern cars. But did you ever put gas in a 1957 Chevrolet? I suppose owners, as well as station attendants soon learned, but the first time someone does it, he wishes he hadn't. If you had the nozzle set to shut off automatically, it would do that . . . almost immediately after it shot gas 3 feet out behind the car. Of course the same thing would happen if you were just holding the nozzle unless you learned to LISTEN for the sound that would tell you to stop.
The word you are looking for is, disgusted. Liberals have ruined Oregon.Oregon is ruled by Democrats. Are you proud or ashamed? If the latter I'll offer that it is a big state and I'm sure you have some normal people there.
That's a great picture. Independent woman of her times, sharply dressed, filling the car with gas, dalmatians in the front seat. It screams "Get away from my you greasy attendant!" hahaha
