I'd rather pay $300 for a service call and have a un-hacked up tractor (plus I'd be making money, not videos)... Or I would've tested the switches before going all crazy with the wire cutters. These are hard enough to work on and when you buy a used tractor with spliced wires and snipped safety switches it makes it even harder to fix right.

I'm sure he makes quite a bit of $$$ on his YouTube videos. That's why he puts out so many. He is a pseudo-celebrity in the welding world, be that good, bad, or indifferent. I watch his welding videos because I've been trying to determine what I want to buy and how a 'real world' use would be. He is a little cut and hack sometimes, but... that is most likely how I would be in a lot of ways. Some of the welder channels, while awesome, is like watching a surgeon in an OR. The setup, equipment, etc is perfect. That won't be my world in welding... so I want to see how to 'get the job done' and be entertained a bit along the way.

Agreed. I have watched a lot of Lance's welding vids too and learn something nearly every time I see one. I am sure there is much that Lance could still teach me about welding. Just as I am sure there is much I can teach him about electronic troubleshooting.

Love his troubleshooting skills. Hack and slice and unplug most of the harness. What a joke, but par for the course with lanse. Only made it to the 8min mark before turning it off

He was on the phone with his dealer four separate times with the dealer explaining, our products screw up this way. Telling isn't it.

FWIW, my Kioti's brake switch screws up if the parking brake is left on so the engine will not start. The switch must be exercised in order to clean up the contacts and resume function.

I must have missed the part where you heard the person on the other end say, "our products screw up this way". If I were the owner or manager of the dealership, and heard one of my mechanics say such a thing, they'd be gone.

The old saying goes, haste makes waste, the video proved it. I like another adage, slow and steady goes far in a day.

Ironically.... I chose a Mahindra based solely on it's simplicity.

I have had electrical issues with my tractor as well, but with a schematic in hand; was able to troubleshoot and make the necessary repairs needed to correct the issue. Personally I feel that most wiring harnesses are not manufactured by the "tractor's company" but by a third party. I may be wrong however.

I too, worry about onboard computers and endless miles of wires 'exaggerated' to provide a (port) to plug in diagnostic tools to identify issues. Perhaps these tractors will stand the test of time out in a field somewhere in the elements and still be in use; years from now. I embrace technology where it can reside in a controlled environment, however if anyone has worked on a 30+ year old automotive wiring harness - it deteriorates and can be a bugger to repair.

My feelings are skewed with regards to "Safety", Rops, numerous kill switches, and seatbelts have saved lives. However, we are using tractors..... Inherently dangerous machines that can cause bodily harm even with every safety measure taken. A tractor is only as safe as its driver - regardless of any built-in safety measure..

The one think he didn't mention is RESALE value. He whines that Kubota is 1/3 more, but my experience with my Kubota I always get nearly 100% of my money back after using them for years. Buy BRAND NAME it's worth it on resale. His video is an example of that, I doubt he can sell his for scrap steel.

Just curious, what models of Kubotas you have owned?

I think his video is an example of how to improperly trouble shoot and butcher a wiring system.

And I think we can all agree, he did a pretty good job of that.:)

There is a fair amount at the end about Mahindra Corporate being completely unresponsive and unhelpful.
