Did he ever determine what the problem was? Was it the solenoid?

From what I could see, he doesn't know. He wired from the key switch to directly actuate the starter solenoid, hence my previous long post about trouble in his future.

That was my first guess as well. It wouldn't take much troubleshooting to actually find out. But it was much more fun to start cutting and splicing wires and cussing about safety switches. This is a normal human reaction, and I am not knocking on Lance with these comments. Lots of guys here do the exact same type of "shotgun" troubleshooting. One reason is they don't know what to do or how to proceed. They have never fixed anything using the scientific method. We sure don't teach logic and troubleshooting in our schools now do we? What do we actually teach in schools?

Some Mahindras don't have a seat switch. My 3016 doesn't.

I would never start cutting wires like that. In a lifetime of troubleshooting and fixing stuff have never done anything like that. He might be a super whiz high octane whatever but just a butcher in my book. What is the lesson learned here anyway.

OR, there will be a new cottage industry springing up. Building and supply 3 party aftermarket modules to keep that not so old iron running!. Never underestimate the desire to make a buck. When one door closes, another door opens.

You have to remember NEITHER safety switch was the fault that prevented his tractor from starting. He wired around both and his tractor still would not start.

I thought he was going by the wisdom of the Mahindra service tech that he called and started with that, then went to the shotgun approach, maybe he would of been better off if he went the Red Green way.
