Yea, but can you imagine integrating these generic "cottage industry" electronics into all the different brands and models of tractors?

Maybe for someone like you it would be a piece of cake, for someone like me, probably a little more challenging

For more than 50% of the population???? Holy Cow!!!
:confused2:

You guys can keep your old mentality to your graves.....I will embrace technology....If the old was so great, we still would be using our timing lights and dwell meters...

Its the mentality of refusing change is more of the problem.....30 years in a dangerous trade were enough for me, because many things we did the only safety, was thinking things through and hoping nothing went wrong and injured or killed someone.....They had family's and they were my responsibility.....PERIOD!

I embrace technology daily, but all that is new does not make all new better!

Ton of respect for Chucky. He is at least 50 times smarter than I was at the same age. I like his you tube vids, and it's clear he is a quality welder and fabricator. Tractor operating is not his first love.

It seems that that the weak spot of some Mahindra models is the electronics. With all the highly skilled engineers coming out of India, this is a bit surprising to me. It would be worth while for Mahindra to solve this issue before they get a bad rep. I looked at a 3016 a few years ago, thought it was a capable machine, but didn't get my heart pumping, plus, no service dept. at that location, had to take it to a different shop for warranty work. Didn't seem like they were all in.

My 2008 Mahindra 5525 (55 hp engine, 2WD, 8F/2R partially synchronized gear granny) had starting problems twice in the 7 years I owned that beast.

First time it was dust/dirt in the key switch in the 3rd or 4th year. A little work with a pick, a squirt of WD-40 and a few wiggles of the key--problem solved.

The other time the problem was bad connections on the battery ground cable. A little work with a metal file fixed it.

ChuckE2000's tractor looks a lot like mine except for the front end. His is really screwy. To get to the air filters and the battery on my 5525, you unscrew six thumb screws to remove the one-piece grill. The filters and the battery are right there in front of you at waist height. Super easy to work on. Don't know why Lance's smaller tractor is such a mess up front.

I was very fortunate to have an excellent Mahindra dealer (Dave's Tractor in Red Bluff, CA, TBN handle "DavesTractor"). Never had a minute's dealer problem in the time I owned that 5525. Only had that tractor in his shop twice. First for the 50 hour service since I think it's best to have the dealer's service guys check the stuff in the oil and at the tractor in general. The second was when I had the skid steer quick attach unit installed. My ranch was about 20 miles from Dave's place. We negotiated the transportation fees both times.

I'm aware of the horror stories that have been posted here on TBN regarding dealings with Mahindra USA in Houston. Fortunately I never had to thrash things out with those folks over warranty issues or shoddy workmanship.

Evidently, before bypassing those two switches, he had already eliminated the seat switch, or did I miss seeing him mention it?

My Mahindra 2615 has two switches, neutral safety, and PTO. I almost always start it from the ground.

I would never consider by passing any of my switches.

"He used the shotgun method by trying this and trying that and then still not fixing it etc. BUT he did get it running." <<<<I knew there was a reason why I like Chucky's vids. just couldn't put my finger on it............same kinda skills I have.

I'd say it's not chucks fault for working on the wiring, it's Mahindas fault for not making a safety switch that wont last a year. My tractor is almost ten years and the neutral switch still functions with out issue. Me, I hate change, but do like improvements.
