The metal roof goes on. FINALLY. I guess I shovelled snow off the floor of the house 12 times this winter! For those interested, the color we went with is called Antique Bronze.
We had to go ahead and put a section of the siding on for the meter base to be mounted. We're making the siding out of 1" hemlock board that we're planing. The planed lumber is really nice...and creates a ton of shavings. We plan to stain the siding with Cabot siding stain...a natural tone that tints the wood very little but still offers UV protection.
In the first pic, the wood on the left is unplaned. The wood to the far right is planed. What a difference! The 2nd pic is the section we hung this weekend so the meter base could be mounted. 3" wide battens will be screwed on to cover the gaps.
Thanks Eddie! It took the builders about 2 weeks to get it all up there. On the "high side" of the roof, it's about 35 feet high. Not a lot of fun! But they did a great job and it does look really good. My wife and I spent many days debating the color of the roof. Who would have thought that it would be so hard to pick a color. But it was.
Hi Andy -- It's Lori (of the Fernandina Beach, FL Miranda family). It's so exciting to see the house progress. No matter how long I've been in this business, I *never* get tired of seeing a building go up. Say 'hi' to the family for us...
