In my opinion, no amount of tinkering with curriculums or money shoveling will affect a student's ability to learn as much as a parent's apathy. Sometimes I think society throws up its collective hands when confronted with a difficult problem rather than risk being politically incorrect. In the end, we all suffer for it.

It's a testing and curriculum roller coaster. For example, Oklahoma put in high school diploma testing standards, then found out too many students couldn't pass them apparently.

Cornbread is sore subject, living on the Eastern Shore and being raised in eastern NC where that sweet pasty crap is passed off as cornbread, I love me some southern style iron skillet crumbly cornbread in a big old glass of buttermilk!

Jiffy Corn Muffin Mix is pretty good for store-bought corn bread; not too sweet and not too sticky/pasty.

I can eat it and do sometimes, but a good old pone of thick crust cornbread is still hard to beat.
