Congrats.

Very nice.

Good looking crew you have...

These little diesel engines, especially the indirect injection ones, are meant to be run wide open for PTO work. I suspect (although I never have used a snowblower) that you will throw snow quite well, especially since your JD has roughly two-three times the useable torque of your neighbor's Cub Cadet. It probably could throw the Cub Cadet 60' or so at WOT.

Re the lights.

I moved my ROPS lights to inside the ROPS. Easy to do (at least on my 4010) and no problem if you don't have a back hoe.

2200 rpm is pretty slow. I recall when I first got my 2210 (also 23 hp) I didn't like to run high rpm right away and mowed at 2500 rpm. In hindsight that was a bad mistake as the mower deck got all stuffed up with stuck on grass cause I wasn't running it fast enough. The RPM guage should have an orange tick mark on 3000 rpm which is ideal running speed for running attachments. However the manual says to mow at full wide open 3300 rpms. I would think the snowblower manual should spec rpms but if not don't be afraid to run 3000.

Been blowing lately at 3000 RPM. Today's snow is wet, and I had no trouble throwing plenty clear of the driveway, which is the whole point. This blower really makes for a clean driveway.

I know a guy on another site that has the same kids and tractor as you. Even looks like you a bit. Good luck with the new tractor.

That guy has a sick fascination with fake wood sided station wagons. He had an awesome Mercury Colony Park, until it just wasn't practical (no storage space, which is now a non issue, and terrible gas mileage, and a wife who hates "boaty cars"). I think it was a real sad day when that guy sold that car. Here, the name is a little more career oriented.:D

That is a great looking tractor, and family! I am looking at the same set up myself. Please keep us updated about how you like the turf tires for your uses. That is the combination that I am looking at too, and so some reassurance would be good! :)

I figured the ROPS wouldn't need to be folded to get in...wrong. Luckily, I checked before just driving in. But, it does take a mental note to put it back down or up, when you change its position.

The inside of the doors to the container I used to store my 4310 in until the house was built has "ROPS" and arrows pointing up in flourescent paint for just that reason - early on I forgot and couldn't figure out why forward progress stopped and the front end was lifting off the ground. :) Luckily I was going REAL slow as there was a set of storage shelfs down one side and the tractor barely fit. Wasn't too good for the sun shade frame either.

I was lucky in that the garage has 10' walls (and a cathedral ceiling that gives me 12' for the center 6' so I could install a 2-post Bend-Pak lift) so the roll-up door is just high enough to clear the ROPS. The sun shade attchment bracket just kisses the weatherstripping going in and out.
