This will eventually be the new driveway, alleged gravel :D & new gate (yes that is the moon in the background ). We work from sunrise until the moon is shining :p. After we get organized we'll build a fancier entrance - until then - this one will do.

That's a nice looking beagle, hopefully she'll find a good home.

I was kinda nonchalant about mentioning the dog - so I better elaborate before I seem insincere... The dog was great looking - she hadn't eaten a square meal for several days - the mid section was showing the rib cage in a big way - the nearest civilization to our land is 5-10 miles - it was either a run a way or a drop and go. We wouldn't/couldn't consider bringing another dog home to our house - we have an Akita that is our one and only love - he would be heart broken. The adoption agent said she'd be adopted in no time.

The Metal Building Company had Fed Ex drop off the 3 sets of Stamped Engineered Blue Prints and the Letter of Certification. The County called to say the permit was Approved - we knew it would be... they said it will be issued early next week and I can go pick it up or they offered to mail it - I told them I'd like to pick it up. The Company that will erect the building said they'd like to possibly start sometime next week - we hope we can hold them off a few extra days since we don't have the select fill out there yet. ;) Can you say "NERVOUS"? :)

Great lookin' family ITC!

I noticed in earlier picks a red barn. Is it usable? Any other usable structures on the property? Also, how many head of cattle 'ya got roamin around there? Is the Akita a good cattle dog?:D

Tight livin' quarters there too! Bet the kids love campin' out!

Are you planning on having some type of living quarters in the new building?

Happy Thanksgiving!!!:D

They get more and more friendly each time we go. This last trip they were on our camp site each morning.

Great lookin' family ITC!

Red barn is usable - electric runs to it and it has lights too. It is currently the only structure on the land. Currently 16 cattle share our 31 acres and the 20+ lot next door - his lease ends 12/31. Our new tenant intends to bring 10 plus a bull - he'll also rotate them with his others. Daytona wanted to play with them - we didn't let him - we weren't sure if it was a good idea. The trailer is 26 feet - can sleep 11 if need be - both rear beds are electric - the way it is viewed is so the kids can sleep and the dog can stand - we can put them up and carry our mule or several dirt bikes. We have our own bedroom up front too. Kids LOVE it. The new structure will be used to store agricultural equipment and implements - we'll use the trailer to sleep. Thank you!! Happy Thanksgiving to you!!

I couldn't get everyone to cooperate at the same time - every try one of them would be looking away - every time they looked away the cattle were closer - it was hilarious. Not sure why they were in that position... you might be right

Ross, got a question for you. Have you decided the elevation of the building in relationship to the ground? What I'm trying to say is on my Morton building I made the mistake of having the building's exterior metal walls placed quite low to the ground. The problem with this is every time I weedwack the grass I have to be careful not to hit the metal with the weedeater. If I had to do it over again I would have had the building's exterior metal higher off the ground and have treated lumber line the bottom perimeter of the building. Basically to enter the building I would have had to "step up" into the building. I'm guessing with your location you probably don't get extreme showers but if the building is ground level is there a possibility of water entering the door openings during a heavy rain shower?

Stanley, Great question! We definitely want to have the building elevated above ground level. Our house is way up there and we love it. We were also warned - the most common thing that fails is the ground and not the concrete - so the first step was removing the vegetation - we were told if there was black gumbo that we'd need to remove 4-6 inches - it appears to be typical soil so we removed 2-3 inches. We hope to add several inches of select fill - I'd like to add 4-6 (or more) if possible. We called the local place to order it yesterday but played phone tag. We'll call them again Friday or it might have to wait until Monday if they are closed.

Do you know (or does anyone know) the maximum amount of select fill, in inches, before it becomes counterproductive? We're thinking go as high as possible - we want to reduce the chances of water entering in a heavy heavy hurricane type rain - like mentioned.
