Part 13, These are some pics of what I have been doing outside of the barn. These show clean up of all the dirt and rock left over after construction. The pile of road mix gravel behind the truck will all be used up soon as I will be repairing the bad spots in the driveway with whats left of it. Then some pics of the gravel banked up against the barn to keep the wet and snow outside. And then the other stalls I have finished painting. One stall left and I got them done. :D

Enjoy TBN'rs !

Part 14, Been hand stacking hay in the barn the past couple of days. These Pics show that we have plenty of hay storage room and room to get the 20' trailer maneuvered for stacking. Now that's some serious hay storage! :D

Included are pics of the first cutting hay that I just stacked and then the second cutting on the opposite side of the barn which I stacked a couple of weeks ago. I have about 35 bales of hay left to move in here tomorrow then it's time to get my driveway repair finished up. :D

The weather is supposed to be good through the weekend so I will get started on that last stall real soon. Man, it looks like I am gonna make it after all on getting everything I need done before winter sets in. I was really stressing out :confused2: due to the weather changes but I am getting a break and feeling like everything is falling into place now. Not long and I will be ready for the long cold winter. It's been a good ride though and I am very proud of all we have accomplished this summer. :)

I have had a great time sharing all this with you guys and this project is now winding down and on the verge of completion. About the only thing left to show will be the completed painting on the inner Tack Room. When it's done I will add the pics to this thread. May be a while yet on that but will post just as soon as it gets finished. ;)

Here You Go Fellow TBN'rs !

If you were in Texas, you would have an armed guard on that hay.

Great looking setup. Thanks for letting us enjoy the progess from start to finish.

Yeah, I know it's bad for hay down there and has been for awhile. Even Arizona the state I was born in is having some problems. :( I feel for all of em' and hope for things to turn around for them.

A friend of mine sold practically all his hay harvest to Texas this year. He said it's not the money that appeals to him as he gets better money per bail but he wants to do his part to help them out down there.

Thanks, glad you liked the thread.

USNative,

Appears you have pretty well got is made.

It is a little humorous what you see or don't see in a picture. Was looking at one picture with something that looked like a four inch pipe on a fence post. Kept coming back to that picture and all of a sudden I realized that dang pipe on a fence post was a section of wheel line. So much for me sizing up pictures.

This has been very enjoyable for all of us, even if you were getting stressed out.

Part 12, here are pics of the inner Tack Room walls. Some of it has a base coat of paint started on it. I finished building it all last night. Not much to look at yet but we will be getting the painting done in a beige color on it pretty soon and then it will look really good ! :) After painting we will add the trim and baseboards and it will be a done deal.

I am going to paint the white parts on the Dutch Doors and install the 70 amp sub panel to the hanger building tomorrow so we can get the new lights installed and get the automatic horse waterer hooked back up there . After that is done all the electrical will be completed. We will be down to painting the 3 stalls and the Tack Room and we will be about done with this project.

very nice work on the barn love the color scheme

Yep, it's been great sharing all this with you all and even though I did get a bit nervous about the weather and all the Good Lord gave us the break we needed. As fast as the weather can change here you never know if you will get that last chance to get it all done but in this case it seems to have worked for me this year.

Last year was a bit different though, the cold days hit all the sudden and never let up till spring. It was a very hard winter here last year. The old timers said it was the worst they seen in twenty years. Hopefully this one will be a milder one. Won't get my hopes up too high yet though.

We feel so good & blessed to have gotten our goals for the season accomplished and was very glad to have shared some with you all here at TBN. I love this site and have learned a lot from all the good members here and really enjoy sharing as much as I can to contribute here so that hopefully someone can gain some knowledge from my experiences.

Nick, I hope that you do create a thread or two here on what you do around your place as well. I think you will have a lot to contribute to us here and I for one would really enjoy seeing what you do. Looking forward to it sometime hopefully.:)

USNative,

My wife is our primary picture person, does the bulk of our family documentation, in fact she has been very involved in genealogy and family histories, primarily involving our family, but she has also assisted relatives and friends with investigating their families.

In the evenings we are regularly competing for the use of our computer, that's one reason I end up making posts at the early hours of the morning and find myself short of sleep the next day. Most of my computer time has generally involved farm program research and too much time goes toward chasing down parts and equipment needed on a daily basis to keep the farm moving along.

I have looked to a few forums in the process of accomplishing some of the items mentioned. As part of that I ended up on TBN and have found it to be not only a very valuable resource via following threads, but also an extremely interesting forum with such a wide variety of related subjects and an amazing sharing attitude on the part of members.

Will be encouraging my wife to apply some of her picture taking skills and equipment to assist me in sharing some of or activities, for example our new hazelnut orchard establishment process and a variety projects that seem to keep me so busy I wonder how forum members do such a great job with their pictures and documentation of the subjects that have proved to be so interesting.

Like anything else it will take some adjustment to think about incorporating pictures and documentation as a normal part of a number of challenging things that come to mind. I am sure TBN could be of tremendous assistance to me in the resolution of projects that I am working through on a daily basis. It is still somewhat difficult for me to think in terms of beginning threads requesting advice and recommendations from forum participants.

That being said, I am clearing the thread for the day so folks can get back on subject while I am working at shortening my postings, being more specific and will continue to watch your new barn to completion.

Update, due to other chores needing done around the place I still haven't got the painting done on the last stall or the inner tack room. I had to start getting the paint put away for the winter so it don't freeze on me. May have to wait til spring to finish the last stall but I can work on the inner tack room as time permits through the winter as I have the heater in there.

I did get something done on the back of the barn yesterday and I will post a picture or two pretty soon.

At this time I am mainly concentrating on getting the automatic stock water troughs fixed up before the extreme cold sets in. I am also getting our horses moved around to where I want them for the winter. Then I still have to get the driveway finished. It's getting very cold here now so I need to get these goals done real soon, not much time left. :(

Doing this barn project was great but I find myself now trying to catch up on many things I got behind on while doing this project. Still very glad we got the barn built and next year we will get to enjoy our place and spend time with the horses.

Just thought I would keep all interested up on whats been going on.
