Tractor
JD 3039R cab
Well I decided to get rid of my NH tc55da open station with no loader, I love the tractor but really want a loader and a cab. To add an aftermarket cab the cost was way to high and quite costly to add the loader as well.

So I am getting (on Friday) a very clean used JD 4720 cab,cx ldr with hyd ports @ bucket, 3 remotes on the rear, wheel weights, cruise control. Probably some other options as well that I have not even realized yet.

Thanks for the info and feedback as it helped with my decision.

Congrats on the purchase.

Not only is that a great looking tractor with the cab, it will work until the cows come home.

Best wishes.

Welcome to the Green side!

840 hours and needing tires? Only the fronts?

Yes the fronts, we had lots of snow here in MD last year and the previous owner took advantage of the cab and loader. I know some guys who made 30-40k with one machine running out in last years storms, but that much running on blacktop is murder on the rubber for sure.

NH has cab tractors in the Hp range for a good price new. those green parts do get expensive

yes I know they do as I have owned, Massey, Kubota, NH, Deutz, Vaultra, and JD, and to be quite honest I was happy with all of them as they all had a purpose at the time. I am in love with tractors and would have a whole bunch of them if I could lol. one thing I know about JD is the resale is always higher than the others, just the way it is.

oh and I forgot a brand, how could I forget my 1951 Farmall H

Okay so the dealer delivered the tractor yesterday morning and I began to play a bit. And now I have some questions for you guys, since all I could do is play with the loader and I was finally able to use my Rear blade with all of the cylinders functional. My question is for pasture mowing I use an old littleston 7.5 pull type mower, what range are you able to mow in as it seems high will be to fast and medium might be to slow. so maybe some of you othe 4720 guys can let me know.

thanks Mike

You should be able to pull the mower in high range and adjust your speed to suit you. Do you have the upgraded automotive cruise? It works great and allows you to set your speed in .1 mph increments. Also recognize that if you select high range "C" and adjust your speed with the foot pedal that the foot pedal is varying the hydrostatic transmission ratio. Thus selecting the speed you wan't is similar in effect to selecting the gear you would choose on a gear tractor.

Depending on conditions "B" range at full speed seems to be about right for me.

Use B and set your speed at a pace that doesn't beat you up running over bumps. Probably around 6 mph.

6mph is about what b is at max just seems slower to me but I am sure I will get it figured out.

thanks

resale is higher and you pay mroe up front usually with JD. so doesnt rally work out to good like that. good luck with the new ride
