I understand your frustration, in our area the typical need for the diff lock is mud and you are trying not to spin so idle or hand throttle is generally fine. I'm guessing since you prefer the foot throttle you don't use the cutting brakes either.

Remember that the diff lock should only be engaged when both tires are stopped or turning at the same speed. Stomping it in while one is spinning quickly ruins the pins in it.

I grew up running tractors without foot throttle so its sort of natural to me to use it when the situation is needed. Larger ag tractors can set the rear axle (and front too) to stay locked until you unlock them. That would be handy!

</font><font color="blue" class="small">( My B7800 and the L4330 are on the left side. If I need to lock up the rear end I want to be able to operate the gas pedal while doing so. Idle speed won't get it trying to get out of a situation where I need the pulling traction of both rear tires. Using the hand throttle while operating the back blade or the FEL at the same time doesn't get it for me. )</font>
