Over run with mice

Well I spent the weekend pulling out all the stuff from the kitchen cabinets and cleaning them out. I found much evidence of my mouse freinds, but I haven't heard/seen them lately. One of two things. It's warmed up and greened up beautifully outside so they may have moved on. Or the pest thingie is working. I vote for number one. Anyway, next year assuming I don't have to act sooner, I will be stocking up on traps of every shape and size in preperation for winter. /forums/images/graemlins/wink.gif

I had several of those "rocking" traps and also 2 of the large, expensive metal cage type traps that keeps them alive. And then ... several times ... I found dead, mumified remains in the rockers ... and mumified and eaten remains in the cages and decided that .. if I wasn't religiously going to check them, it was more inhumane to pretend to keep them alive than to kill them instantly .... so I went back to the spring traps ...
Mice and I have an agreement .... as long as they stay out of my house, garage and my shop ... they can do whatever their little hearts desire ... they invade my space and make me listen to my wife carping about mice ... they're history. May not make PETA happy ... but that's life (for me, not the mouse!)

I gave up on peanut butter a long time ago because I often had more on me than on the trap.

Then I found they just do back flips for a kitchen match head size piece of pecan forced into that little spot provided.

Practice total warfare!

There is nothing more maddening than hearing a mouse in the walls while you are trying to sleep.

Orkin is the best money I spend each quarter. Traps, poison, glueboards. Use it all!

You need a bucket trap--or a toilet trap--almost the same.

You need: 1 bucket, a beer can (well, a pop can will do in a pinch, but not nearly as enjoyable; don't use the big cans unless you have a very wide bucket), a wire and a stick--and peanut butter.

Punch holes in center of top and bottom of can. Run wire thru the can so you can suspend the can over the center of the bucket. Turn the ends of the wire down so it will stay in place. Slather peanut butter on the can. Fill bucket with 6 inches of water. Prop stick onto the side of the bucket opposite the side of the can, not the end, and you are set.

Mouse climbs stick, jumps to can which spins out from under it and it goes swimming until it can't swim any more. Another mouse comes along and does the same thing--meaning you don't have to continually manage a trap line.

Instead of the bucket you can use a toilet, then just flush the critter away when you discover it.

Mice oif various sorts are a picturesque part of country life. But there have to be limits. That's where the spring traps come in.

Those look like Deer Mice.

Deer Mice can carry the deadly HantaVirus. Have you had any Hantavirus cases in the area you are in?? IF you are in France, they might not have that virus.
