Overfilled gearbox on my rotary cutter

I have a woods RC6 rotary cutter which I am in the process of servicing. I removed the plug located on the rear bottom of the gearbox and drained the oil. I then removed the top vent to fill it back up . At this point I checked the owners manual to find out how much oil to put in. It said to add oil until it comes out the side plug hole, I look on both sides and cannot find a side plug . Anybody have this model of rotary cutter and tell me where the heck it's located

The fill and drain plugs are most likely the same. I just serviced the mid-mount mower (M60F) associated with my Yanmar SA425 and the manual clearly indicates that the fill/drain plugs are the same. The gearbox does not take much oil. Separately, I used Mobil 1 75-90 GL-5 gear oil.

I understand you have the rotary cutter, so not the same! Worst case, call Woods technical support and verify.

Edit: So read your post again. Is your drain plug really at the bottom or lower side? If at the bottom, ignore my post. There are typically two service plugs on the gearbox, the vent and the drain/fill.

I had the same situation on a rototiller. No noticeable side plug. So... I filled the case with what looked like enough. It was too much. However - the overage just blew out the vented top plug. No loss - no damage.

Then one day I had a real brain fart. Started checking all the bolts that held the side cover on. Low and behold. One bolt hole went all the way thru into the gear case cavity. I had found the "check oil level" plug.

Sound like your instruction manual was written by the same folks that wrote mine.

My neighbor's vent plug was plugged on is brush hog, when opening the fill plug it spit fluid. It was overfilled from the

dealership.

I check or clean my vent plug every year.
