I don't recal the difference of '66 to '67 Chevelle. I thought they were basically the same.

I like the '66 partly because of the expierience with my Uncle. It was a dealer car he got with low mileage in '67 when he was home on leave(USAF Air Traffic controller in Greenland). Had the high HP 396. And low gears. It would do 120, but it was really wound up. It would sure launch out of the hole though, if you could get any traction...

In high school the kid who lived next door to us was in my class, his parents bought him a '66 GTO with a 4 speed and 3 deuces....my folks bought me a 6 cylinder Mustang....but to be honest, although his GTO was keen, the car I really wanted was the '67 Chevelle SS 396, I thought it was so much better looking than the '66 model.

Here in Michigan lthe icense fees would be based on the cost of the car NEW....and can you imagine what insurance alone would add up to? Where do you get parts and service for those when you live in Central Michigan?

I never said a Bentley was the most practical car out there, just if your in the market for it, they can be had cheap and also to show their massive depreciation.

Service? Any independent European shop should be able to handle it. Or the dealer in Troy. Not that parts would be as cheap as what you'd see on a 1996 Taurus. But what European car in this price range has cheap parts? BMW? Porsche? nope.

As to License fees..
Initial registration (sales tax) is calculated on the sales price or "red book" value of the car depending. This gives you title to the car. A one time thing.

Permit Renewal (every 2 years) fee is based on weight of the car. This gives you the right to drive the car on the highways.

Charging registration fees based on new value for a 10 year old car is foolish. Im surprised the used car lobby allowed it.

When we were watching the show, I asked the wifey to find out what the car cost and she found quite a few used ones. The depreciation was huge! :D:D:D

The car in the show had tires that were $1,000. EACH! :eek::laughing:

I present the Bugatti Veyron. The Michelin Pilots on it are $7500 EACH, and should be changed every 4000 Kms. .. And the rims if you get a scratch? $11,544 each.

Bugatti Veyron operating costs so expensive, it's cheaper to use a private jet?

I am going to tell the wifey that the Bentley is a steal if we buy used! Look at the difference in the cost of tires! It is a real deal! :D

They are the largest tires ever fitted to a production car and i believe they have the highest speed rating ever too.

Spread the cost of designing the highest performing consumer tire and compound ever over 300 cars and there you go :thumbsup:

On the upside, you can tell your wife you can pick up a used Bentley for the cost of a set of tires... just dont tell her which tires :D

Before the 70 vette, dad had a marina blue/black vinyl top/black interior 66 ss 396/350hp Chevelle 4spd. He went thru a set of tires in 6 months. Loved that car. My chevelle is a malibu, not a ss. Small block with around 300hp.

My Uncles was gray, with white interior. He did a restoration on it in the mid 80's, stayed gray, but went with black interior. It had the highest output motor 375HP, buckets, console with tach ect.

When I was a year old, my parent got a '63 Impala SS327 4spd, in 1964. For the size of car, it went pretty good...

Before the 70 vette, dad had a marina blue/black vinyl top/black interior 66 ss 396/350hp Chevelle 4spd. He went thru a set of tires in 6 months. Loved that car. My chevelle is a malibu, not a ss. Small block with around 300hp.
