Kubota 3420
Hello tractor people. I'm new to this forum, and to tractors for the most part. I've driven a few but never owned one...until now!

I am now the proud owner of a new Kubota 3240HST with the 724 loader, or I will be on Wednesday when they deliver it.

It was a tough decision between the Kubota and a Deere 3320. The reasons I chose the Kubota over the Deere was:

1. The Kubota is about 8 inches wider at 66-67" and we have some hills that made stability a concern. This is measured at the outside of the tires.
2. The Kubota engine met tier 4 emissions vs tier 2 emissions for the Deere
3. 72" bucker vs 60"
4. The attachements were priced almost the same at both dealerships....but the suggested ones are wider. Tiller 72", box blade 72" Mower 84". The Deere was Tiller 60", box blade 60" Mower 72".

The larger attachments was definately a selling feature, but upon reading the owners manual it says the sizes I was sold exceed the capacity of the machine. Max capacities listed are 60" tiller, 65" bloxblade and 72" mower.

I'm pretty sure the salesman knew what he was talking about. Is this OK to run these larger units? Running a 60" attachement with a 66" wide footprint doesn't make sense to me.

i have just gone through this with a 68" tiller all the specs and dealers say no more than 48". through research and real would testing i have found that if the machine will run it without lugging the engine go for it. i just back from breaking new ground with no issues.

Congratulations on the new tractor and welcome to the forum.

I would not worry about the larger implements. Kubota historically is very conservative when it recommends implement sizes. There are many of us here that have used larger than the Kubota recommended sizes for years without issue.

Welcome to TBN, BW. And to repeat again what I've said in the past . . ., I would never want to tell anyone to exceed manufacturer's specifications; however, in my opinion, Kubota is very conservative on their implement recommendations. So, in my opinion, the salesman was probably right in selling the larger implements.

I have a L3940 I have a 6 foot mower and now wish I had a 7. Have a 6 foot box blade and it's fine. I don't own a tiller but wouldn't buy a new one smaller that 6 foot. Have fun with your new tools.

Thanks for the feedback. I feel more comfortable with it now. I'm looking forward to being part of the TBN community!

The L3940 will easily run a 7 foot RFM. I've got the Landpride FDR2584.
I've got the Landpride RTR2072 and it is a real load for a L3940. I think the reverse rotation really eats the power. It works as advertized, one pass is about like 2 or 3 with a front rotation tiller. I just go slow.

I run a 60" snowblower with my 16PTO hp tractor. The recommended max size is about 50". No issues at all. In deep hard packed snow I just take it very easy.

Like someone else said.. if you can run it without lugging the engine, or killing the clutch.. or overloading the 3pt.. you ar elikely ok.. remember.. you can always choose a slow(er) gear too.

I can answer your questions from firsthand experience. Look at my list of equipment.

I have no trouble running my 6 ft KK tiller with my 3240. The only time I really notice it is when tilling deep in previously tilled ground. If that sounds strange, let me explain.
In previously tilled ground, I can absolutely bury the tiller. My little 3240 will grunt a bit when I do that. I just slow down a little.
In normal tilling, 6 or 8 inches in good soil, I can go about 1.5 mph.
I slow down on hard stuff because the tiller will just bounce. You'll figure it out quick.

I also run a 6 ft flail. Same thing, no problems.

As far as the box blade goes, you will never run out of power unless you want to run a race.
That being said, the only time my BB has ever stopped my tractor is when I bury the scarifers in hard soil. Then the tractor will just dig itself a hole. :) But, If you go deep enough, even one ripper will stop a tractor.

One other thing,
the 3240 is rated to pull 2 12 inch bottoms or 1 16 inch bottom breaking plow. I pull two 14's and I think I pull it well, over 4 MPH on some instances in normal soil.

What I'm saying with all of this is that the recommended (by the dealer) attachments are well suited to the 3240.

Today was the big day! I decided to relocate a rock pile, probably not the easiest first job but it went well. Here is a pic of the biggest rock by far.
