interesting kink in portland, possible the same everywhere.

there are HUGE encampments under many highway over passes, they live under bridges. state highways running thru town.

a portland buddy explained to me that in many cases the actual bridge is under the control of one govt entity while the land under the bridge is controlled by a different govt entity and, believe it or not, neither entity wants to deal with it so they point fingers at each other.
Yep see some when I have to travel to Portland for a a specialists doctor appt. They have taken over parks also, anywhere there might be some green space . . . right down to pitching their tents in front of high end stores in downtown Portland . . . it's a mess.

Don't see it here in our small college town either. I know it's a problem in
Spokane.

Another beautiful day here. Finally, it's 77F @ 7 PM. Been 68 most of the day.

No smoke and NO RAIN.

Thought people might find this site interesting. If you click on the Earth button there are other options. Hurricanes forming in the Atlantic.

It's been a quiet hurricane season so far. I have a friend in the US Virgin Islands who is getting a lot of Sahara dust. I have heard that high winds in the upper atmosphere will blow the top off of hurricanes and prevent them from forming.

I've read a lot of "climate change will bring stronger storms" and such, and I've wondered how this will affect air travel. I suppose if it fewer but stronger storms in some ways it would be an improvement, but if it's more widespread stormy weather it could make tunnel-travel much more attractive.
