padic sweeper

Hello all,

I was thinking about building a sweeper for horse pasture?

Not that hard if i set and draw it up but if anyone has built one or ideas it would be grand to hear your opinions on this.

shouldn't be hard to build and say plastic 55 gal drum some rubber sweeps and some gearing on a set of wheels.

I've never seen such a thing. I'm guessing it works like a lawn sweeper? In your design what keeps the manure swept into the barrel from falling back out the bottom?

hello Johninct,

I have been mulling this over few weeks now and have thought about many ways to keep manure in barrel.
One way is to make sure rubber sweep and a rubber flap line up at center of sweep.
Other is to use a piece of metal as a trap door it will stay open when rubber sweep is turning and close by weight when gear is not engaged.

I have no sure plan for this and may redo parts of it as we build it but. I already have all Materials to build it so why not try.

I will pic pics and post on here might be couple weekends as I work away from home every week.
Most projects take me few weekends to build unless I take vacation days.

I'm Hoping to start this weekend but My son has couple thing he wants to get done.
Hope this project don't get put on the back burner????
