Pallet forks suppose to be loose or SSQA bracket improperly made?

They just gave me a $75 credit, so I'm satisfied for the transaction at this point. The welder down the street charges $60-75 an hour (hit him up for something after I moved in before I got my shop wired to support my welder), so even if I had to pay somebody to fix it, I wouldn't be taking a hit.

As far as if it were a man... My company frequently sends me to training. The forks actually do their job, even with the loose fitting. That slop will probably end up wearing or breaking the pins though.

Yes everything should be perfect from the get go, but it's not. Just look at Harbor Freight, a lot of their stuff is pretty poor quality, but they are still in business (probably due to a good return policy). As I've said, no matter what you buy or how much you pay there is a chance of getting something defective, it all boils down to the support & warranty behind the product. I willingly bought the cheapest pallet forks I could find (I've been happy with all other aspects of the forks). Sometimes cheap means paying in other ways, like spending time to fix it. If I'd paid for super deluxe forks made out of unobtanium at triple the price I'd probably have had a lesser opinion of the transaction. Sometimes you need the DeWalt, sometimes your fine with the Harbor Freight.

I like it...good explanation of why people do what they do.

And are they now going to stand for their warranty (such that it may be) now that you've modified the piece of equipment? Somehow I doubt it and it wouldn't matter if you walked out tomorrow morning and found it laying in pieces because all the weld joints let go. etc etc etc
It doesn't matter what happens, the warranty has been voided because you modified it from factory specs.

I don't deal with Harbor freight nor with any other Wallmart wanta-be. If I did it'd only hurt my neighbors at large.

Agreed. I see both sides of the discussion, but since I have a welder and skill enough for this VERY minor repair, to me it would be worth it not to have to send them back and just fix them. But if you don't have a welder and don't envision yourself every having one or want to mess with it, then I could see how you would be disappointed. I figure "stuff happens", and things don't always work out like they should. But if you are prepared, "it ain't no big deal". Personally I would weld on some little plates for $75 ALL freaking day, and all week too. If I could make that kind of money for such a small amount of work/planning. I know, I am kind of a redneck, lets fix it guy.

And I would be willing to bet you ain't never had a engine hanging from a tree limb in the front yard neither!. No offense I am just "funning with ya". We are all different, and have different expectations and aspirations. Its all good.

I bought these of of c list and they too were loose. I think the guy bought the qa adapter and fabbed up the rest to put on forks that were rejected from where he worked. I like many others welded on some shims to take up the slack. Not to hard to do. PS. I put them on the bottom

Engine hanging from a tree limb would be OSHA approved compared to some of the places I've found myself in and things I've done Ko.

PalletForks.com ended up being cheaper than anything I could find watching Craigslist for 2 months, even with shipping to a non-commercial address. Better warranty support to boot.

Most companies are legally bound to support their product as long as they are used in the proscribed manner & any modifications are not related to the problem. So far PalletForks.com has been good about their warranty support. 1 E-mail with attached photo & that was all it took. Possible but unlikely they would change their additude. If I (or somebody else) was worried about that, they also offered to swap out the frame. Less hassle with shipping & recieving to fix em myself. Like many tractor impliments they are pretty simplistic devices, just some chunks of steel. I've already worked them reasonably hard lifting the front end & what not, so they are reasonably stout. It's not like they have bearings or electorics to wear out. I could probably just weld it back up if/when problems occur (probably not a good idea to weld on the forks themselves, I seem to recall they are tempered & welding would mess the temper up).

If you're happy then it's all good.
I guess.

I think I was trying to address a larger issue and probably not appropriate for your thread. Sorry, my bad.

Many happy returns.
Merry Christmas

my EA grapple and his brothers brand of pallet forks (construction attachments?) along with a universal plate off of ebay all fit exactly like they should without having to weld on a brand new piece of equipment.
