On my new B2920 the loader will lift almost 1000lbs from its specs. I was thinking about adding pallet forks to it but at only 1000lbs lift it would be a little light. The 3 point pallet forks are not as good but will the 3 point hitch lift more or the same lift as the FEL as it is on the same pump.
Most of our pallets weigh up to 2000 lbs.

I am still amazed at how much heart this little tractors has. I never had a FEL before and was thinking of not getting it when I was looking (don't miss what you never had). Some TBN members commented to get the FEL. Tks for keeping a newbie on track. It would have been a big mistake not to get the FEL.

3pt hitch lifts more weight. Lots more weight. But 3pt pallet forks are a pain. Hard to see, ground has to be level etc. My suggestion is just get front forks and if you really need to lift a lot of weight get a bigger tractor.

No need to sell your tractor. Top and tilt (T&T) will transform your 3pt hitch. I use forks on the rear of my tractor all the time and with the T&T there's no hassle. The only real limitation is lift height, but if you don't need to unload pallets from a truck or stack pallets, who cares? In addition, T&T will make a box blade or rear blade a much more productive implement.

I season my firewood on pallets. When I need more for the stove I bring another pallet over to the house. Works great.

Or look at three point forklifts. There's a couple used around here for under $1000. Something to consider.

Also note that the 950# lift rating for the 2920 is based at the front pin. As soon as you add forks, you move the load further out in front, so the capacity goes down. At 20" in front of the pin, you go down to 650# capacity.

When I had a 2920, I found that the usable capacity with pallets on forks was typically in the 500-700# range depending on the pallet and it's contents.

Tks Guys

I don't want to be single so a tractor upgrade this soon is not going to happen. As I don't need forks real bad ( never had before) it is a option that would be nice.
The link pine sent is something that would work . Tks

I hate to ask a question and then another question on the same topic but what is a top n tilt.

They are hydraulic cylinders for the top link and one (usually the right side, most guys move the mechanically adjustable side link to the left side eliminating the solid lift arm ) one of the lift arms...T&T allows the operator to make adjustments on the fly without having to stop, get off the tractor and make manual adjustments...very beneficial for any type of grading and other tasks...

I'm just got a Massey 1529 this spring and got a set of pallet forks with it. So far this summer I have done more with the forks than with the bucket. I found some used pallet racking and put it up in my barn. I use the forks to load the pallet rack and was able to really get more room in my barn. The 1529 FEL is rated at about 1200lbs at the pin. There have been a couple things it has struggled to lift but I have been able to do just about everything I have asked of it. I am real glad I got the forks.

I put 700ish hours on b3030 never had pallet forks, i just bought a l45 and at the last minute i had em toss in pallet forks. i never knew what i was missing, i have used these forks way more than i thought i would. i move alot of large rocks around my property and ran into a rock the bucket would just bearly move, i put the forks on and due to the lighter weight of the forks i was able to get the rock to it's resting place. i am amazed at how useful these are, i highly recomend them to anyone that can add them to their unit
