Ten or so years back, one of the channels I got on cable showed a draft horse logging operation. The horses pulled the logs up beside of a truck with forks that flipped down and loaded the logs much the same way as many bandsaw mills do these days. I think the power to the forks was provided by a cable which, in turn, was lowered by the truck's engine. I never saw another loader like it.
