Pat's Quick Change question

   / Pat's Quick Change question #31
I saw pat's and liked them. and I saw the $70 ones that JohnThomas has..
I could not justify the cost for Pat's at all..
Over the last 2 years the cheaper ones have been great.. (let's call them the ebay specials)..

the ebay special's have had the following issues:
1. lost a pin that locks in the grade 8 bolt in place- working in snow and it stuck to the blade..
2. the side pin went missing in the mud... just a cotter pin-- no biggie..
I didn't splay it out like JT did.. :ashamed:
3. a weak pin on the 3 point hitch came out and I lost the washer and the implement slipped out of the arm....

all in all PAT's or the ebay special are great little addon's

And thanks to JohnThomas for the great pics I edited for this...

Later,
J

Being "cocked" inboard the way they are, how can they possibly work at all?
3PH arms are cocked/bent inboard. When you follow the "cock/angle" through an extension the "cocked angle" becomes more "cocked/at angle". Good thing 3ph arms have adjustments to spread them out or wider. Since they do have the adjustment out then one can hook up the Pat's which is the longest for the greatest "cocked angle" as well as the others as if they are not cocked just like you hook up the cocked angle 3ph without an extension or quick hitch attachment. I understand the Pat's will not fit on some tractors due to fitting over the cocked arm if the angled part is to cocked thus not allowing the Pat's to slide back far enough to lock down/in. The other ones may fit on those that won't accept Pat's. Almost sure those that hook up on top/bottom will fit all 3ph arms unless the angle/bend is to sharp.

Having tried both of these systems and having got frustrated with them both and then getting a genuine quickhitch and loving it I am curious as to why there is such an aversion to a real quickhitch on this forum:confused::confused2:
Please provide a picture of the real QH. Also provide price and if it will work on all implements. I think you'll have your answer and if you don't provide requested info we'll know you've found out why.:)

I'm thinking I like these better because they slip off and on so quick and easy. I believe this set will allow me to attach tiller with it's current drive shaft without buying an extension for the drive shaft or new longer drive shaft. I'll report any down sides I have with them. I'm still keeping the other set and will see if I can convert cotter pin to a small d ring.

Go to Landpride.com for a picture. Sorry I have not figured picture posting yet.
Yes there is a possibility of the pto being too short but on my 3 units I did not have the problem. In fact it made it easier to hook up the pto because it was almost to long. The only time I get off the tractor seat is to hook/unhook the pto.
I will post pics when I get it figured.

How much did you say it cost?

>>Ordered my PATS, Too!<<

That's too bad... I could have sold you a very lightly used set for cheap money! (and in NH too!)

Was just curious, did you have a bad experience with pat's easy change ? I've had mine for about a year and absoultely love it.

I dont know rut3556 reason, but it could be they cause some trouble sometimes. ... They are not always a good idea. You lose the articulation on one end of your lift arm. This causes more stress, especially when you need to run one arm at a different height to tilt the implement. Also, most of the quick attaches extend the implement further to the rear giving it more leverage on the tractor. The extension can be convenient or not, but is seriously bad with heavy implements that are anywhere near the tractors specd capacity.

Land Pride QH15 Cat. 1 Quick-Hitch#
Here is the Landpride web site address.

Is this yours? Does the top arm hook up on all of your implements without getting off the tractor?

We are going to focus on the JD BH today but if we get a chance or get tired of that we will remove the box blade and install Pat's quick change hitches. As a past machinist I am very impressed with what I found in the box. As a business owner I am double impressed with their customer service after getting shipped Cat 1 version because I did not specify either when ordering. They reshipped the same day I called and the next day I had Cat 2 hitches and the UPS paid return label enclosed in the Cat 2 shipment.

I have read with interest about these and other hitches. If they let me connect the lower arms without getting off the tractor or risking the health/life of my son helping with the pins and function half as well as some state they do I will be happy. If they do not Pat will pay to have them returned and give me back all of my money as I understand it.

With a 60 HP tractor and using the box blade as a bull dozer some versions clearly changed the forces in the wrong direction. The PTO on the bush hog and its weight crossed of the Land Pride type solution for me in my personal case. I will update.

The though of crushing my son or daugher would is willing to help Dad keep doing things even with his physical limitations is my over riding reason for considering any quick change system.

That's the one, QH15. The top/center hook is adjustable and it is a deeper hook so it hooks the implement first. After trying all the others I found this to be the best back/time saver. Just my opinion. I am not on a campaign to convince anyone just thought that maybe no one understood how they worked.

Do you have to do any adjustments to it between the 3 implements that you use with it? Do you just back up to any/all of the 3, raise it up and drive off? I'm trying to understand it better since I've had/have the other 3 but haven't tried this one. Why won't you tell the price?
