Quick connect for pto!!! I do despise hooking up the pto most of the time. Seems I can't keep enough lube on the slide. I did slide the cover back (too bad it doesn't easy slide just by following "Press Here") and removed the rolled pin from the yoke. I then slid the driveshaft out of the ujoint yoke and hooked it up by sliding the driveshaft back in and use a spring lock pin instead of the original rolled pin. I leave the u joint assembly on the pto shaft all the time. Much easier.
That sounds dangerous.

Initially I used a stainless steel bolt with a nylon lock nut and carried the required wrenches in the fender toolbox. Decided to try the spring clip for easier use. I was concerned when I came up with the idea and had kept close watch on the pin for any marks. I also checked the spring maintained high tension. Seemed to work ok.

It is a moot point now because I changed the driveshaft and reinstalled the rolled pin. I will be posting at some time in the future to explain that modification.

scootr - Interesting concept.Thanks.

until you accidentally engage the 540 when meaning to engage the 2000 mid output and break your output shaft and case.
good lord.
wd40 white lithium works great on the sliding collar if its not dented.
seen this often, the little tin collar gets a very slight dent in it and it does not slide easy.

I have stupidly done the opposite of that and broke the hydraulic filter off. What a blast. Posted my resolution on here.

I have used white lithium grease often but it kinda sets up over time and have been using Fluid Film lately because someone recommended it for lubricating the auto extending running boards on my truck.

The issue here in my opinion is trying to get fingers around the shield so you can pull the collar back while same time pushing against your.fingers. Not much room.

I like that quick connect that scootr mentioned but I am not willing to shell out +$300.

All these posts are giving me some ideas about coming up with a way to easily slide the shield back to provide better access. 🤔

yeah...I get it. wrists and fingers all part of my inoperable neck stenosis. plus so much other ******** I am literally in therapy at least twice a week. sometimes 3x a week.
so much therapy lately.
for the hyd filter, and (most importantly) its mounting boss (yeah thats the crap that bites you) even though not made for the gc2300/2400 series it, the retailrems protector, DOES work (and they will provide instructions) after a little bit of grinder work.
plus, unlike the brotek version, its got airflow and is easy to service.
but...consider this.
a little pain when hooking up saves you a shitload of pain if that unbalanced output shaft suddenly starts swinging around with the torque of a diesel.
as an fyi. the last time I looked up price for output shaft housing on 2010 GC2400 (which would include 2010 GC2410 as if it cracked) was $750 from massey. thats just the little housing. so I determined I would never damage it.
you however, are risking damaging it.
well I have said enough.

You may have missed the part where I mentioned that I replaced the driveshaft for a mod I am working on (articulating the rear mower). The new driveshaft fits so tightly in the yoke that I just replaced the rolled pin because I wouldn't be able to pull it out anyway.

well, if I am wrong will gladly admit it and look fwd to what you present.
even if not something I would need to use if it benefits others thats great.
just keep in mind what works for you may break something on others machines and how expensive this crap is.
anywhoo, hopping off the soapbox for the day.
dealing with crap like this right now LOL
