I have been told by my friend who is a mechanical contractor, and pipe fitter: The problem with the galvanizing flaking off is no longer an issue. Galvanized pipe is even sometimes accepted for use on gas lines now.

Yep, we get in many prints with both air & gas speced in galvanized.
