I bet I can go to two different pharmacies and get two boxes of that medication within a 72 hour period in any state in the union. If I couldn't I'd just have my wife or a friend get me the second one. Like I said earlier, pick your battles, don't draw undue attention to yourself, just get your meds by circumventing the system and be done with it.

Chris, don't take me wrong, I'm on your side on this issue, I think the regs are a load of crap and probably don't do a thing to stop illegal drug manufacturing. All they do is cause grief for the honest consumer. I just wouldn't press the issue, I'd work around it.

You just paid $2.00 for an education. I paid for the same education years ago.
I am now the meanest consumer on the planet, before I purchase ANYTHING, I open it up right there at the register ( you don't ever want to get behind me in line). I can go on and on for pages on the things I have found by opening packages BEFORE I buy them, or in some cases after I buy them while I'm still in the store under employee supervision.

Or if an open box item I make the cashier sign the receipt taht the item was an open box item so if I have problems I have proof I did not open the box that way.

Just last week alone I purchased a digital meat thermometer at a high end kitchen store. I opened the box in front of the cashier as she was grimacing and making it quite clear that I was insulting her and her store - then I showed her the dried meat that was stuck on the thermometer along with gravy stains.

I was talking to the return girl at Home Depot and she said that a customer purchased the deluxe 5 pc. dewalt set, and returned it, when the next guy bought it it was full of rocks.

$2.00, you got off cheap, my lesson cost me a whole lot more, but never again.

Had the same happen to be last year on a Roomba purchased at Kohls last year, opened the box at home, it was dirty and a bunch of little pieces in the box, later I realized the pieces were the ones that were part of the brush assy. Took it back to a different Kohls as that was the last one where it was purchased and they returned it without a problem, they also stated that they just came in that day, I made sure that the factory tape was still sealing the box.

Here is the sort of thing I would be doing if it were me. First of all I would be nice and request a replacement from the highest person at the store. If that were to fail my next response would be to tell them how you have no choice but to inform the authorities of what has happened. Then I would say I suspect that behind the counter, controlled drugs, are being stolen or lost, "probably" without the knowledge of most staff of your Co. I also would tell them, it is something the media will like to hear about, due to your inability to properly dispense drugs(giving empty boxes to people is not a good thing) and having lack of control over potential illegal activities (empty box=stolen drugs). I would tell them it could be a inside job with someone replacing the proper drugs with none or worse a placebo. Then I would tell them, maybe this is National news stuff. I would feel my way when talking to whoever is in charge and don't show all the cards until you have to. Another one that works after you show all your cards is, are you sure that you want to take the responsibility for the potential fallout from what I am about to do, I really don't want to get you involved. A lot of the times they will push it up the ladder to avoid responsibility, then you can start again. Just remember you want to make sure that you give the impression that you are trying to resolve this for the benefit of BOTH parties. If all else fails, I would do what I said I was going to do. Realize this might be a big scam that will be National news. These drugs are getting to be quite valuable. Maybe we will see you on tv:eek: :)

Hi Moss Road... That is the problem... all purchases are reported to a central data base which they are required to check prior to each sale.

It does not matter where you buy it... all pharmacies, anywhere in the state report to the data base and the plan is to link all states.

He has to wait 30 days before he can buy again.

I thought he said someone picks up the list once a week from the store. That would indicate it is not entered immediately into a database. Maybe I misunderstood.

I think the laws vary from state to state. Last time I checked you couldn't purchase more than 9 grams at a time in Indiana. That's something like 96 tablets. Don't know what it is in FL.

Anyhow, it sucks to have a stuffed up head, so I hope he gets some relief soon. :)

Soundguy,
If it were me I would go down to the police department and file a police report. Usually it takes a few days to get a copy fothe police report, but I would go back and pick it up and take a copy to the store manager. Once there I would request the e-mail address of the Regional Manager, scan it and e-mail it to the Regional Manager. Also I would have my wife go in and get my meds. I do not think anyone would put an empty bottle in the bag. the box would be so lightweight the person filling the order knew what they were doing. They knew, IMHO. It does not take that long to go to the copshop and tell your story. Bring the cops in, move on and let them worry about it.

Which is exactly why I always check the order in the bag befroe leaving the drivethru window at McDonalds. I swear there is nothing that upsets me more than to get home and my order is wrong. So I jsut take a quick second and look before I leave the drivethru.

Could just go see a real physican and get a prescription for some real drugs instead of OTC.

That's a real myopic view.

1, I do have an appointment with my 'real' doctor.. since it wasn't an emergency, and I do work 2 jobs.. that limits me on what appointments i can take.. which mine is later this week.

2, when i have congestion, my 'real' doctor tells me to go buy pseudophrene hcl from OTC On rare occasions my 'real' doctor will prescribe an antihistamine with the pseudophrene combined.

Right now I am taking alegra as my antihistamine, which my 'real' doctor prescribed.

Everything in the 'real' world is not so cut and dry..

It wouldn't surprise me any if the package was empty from the supplier. I have seen all kinds of empty packages. Corn syrup bottles, coke cans, sugar boxes etc. See what the manager says and then take it from there. Chances are he will give you another package unless the corp policy won't allow it because of the way the law is written.

I've bought multi packs of products with empty portions.. like a fridge pack of soda's with units missing, but box un damagfed.

Update.. Pharmacist and pharmacy tech were pretty dry and there was a lot of face pulling and hemming and hawing... Eventually store manage said 'do it' and i got another box. I don't know what hoops anyone has to jump thru.. but that's their problem...

Sorry you are not feeling well and hope you get some relief....:(

How are you going to prove there was nothing in the box? You open that can of worms with the media and the next thing you know you'll be giving a sample in a jar to officer Flomaster:eek:.

Just go back to the store, talk to the manager and get your medication or a refund and go to a different chain store and pick up what you need. They don't trade the information between stores, as far as I know.

I understand your point. Since i don't do any illegal drugs, I'm more than happy to pee in a cup.. I handle hr at my day job, and i schedule all the pee tests.. I get myself tested periodically just so no one points fingers.

I'm glad the store manager saw it my way. And no.. i would not have had any way to proove anything... I think putting a controlled substance like that in a non tamper resistant / evident box is a major oversite...

Isn't this "situation" an attempt to curtail meth production? Or am I thinking about something else. ... probably a poor attempt and execution, as anything to do with gov is, but maybe not a non-issue ...

I believe you are correct... the quantity limited meds that I bought I -think- are used in meth production... leave it to the government to have a good idea nad gut it on implementation..
