Thanks. I actually got sleep last night.. I'm now only a couple days behind!

Ironically.. it was the store manager that 'made it right'.. the pharmacist and tech were really not willing to help. I assume by the legal info that we now see.. the manager will have to report this as a loss.

Chris, I don't have a solution for your problem, but I sure am sympathetic. For whatever reason, you are stuck with an empty bottle and the burden of proof that it was empty when you got it. That stinks, but that's life.

Several years ago, I made an appointment to see a doctor at a US Air Force hospital. I was having some pains in my stomach. After waiting two weeks, I went to see the doctor and he decided it was stress causing acid production..yada...yada...yada. So he gave me a prescription.

I took that to be filled at the hospital pharmacy and was told the wait was 3 hours. Well, what the heck. I went to the post exchange and did some shopping and then came back an hour later to find that the prescription was still not filled. Being patient, and realizing that all this was free, made me sit for another hour until my name was called.

The pharmacy clerk handed me a bag and told me I would have to sign for a controlled substance. I did that and high-tailed it out of there to beat traffic on the way home.

When I got home, I opened the bag with the prescription to find a completely empty bottle. I stood there realizing that I had just taken off an entire day from work and spent over 6 hours to come home with nothing. ( TBN doesn't have any icons for how I felt.)

I called the pharmacy back and was told there was nothing I could do but make another appointment. About that time, I realized the pain in my stomach was significantly worse than it had ever been, but not bad enough to make me go through that again. After a few dozen rolls of Rolaids, the pain got much better.

I feel for you, but there's not a darn thing I can do to help you.:(

Soundguy,
If it were me I would go down to the police department and file a police report. Usually it takes a few days to get a copy fothe police report, but I would go back and pick it up and take a copy to the store manager. Once there I would request the e-mail address of the Regional Manager, scan it and e-mail it to the Regional Manager. Also I would have my wife go in and get my meds. I do not think anyone would put an empty bottle in the bag. the box would be so lightweight the person filling the order knew what they were doing. They knew, IMHO. It does not take that long to go to the copshop and tell your story. Bring the cops in, move on and let them worry about it.

Which is exactly why I always check the order in the bag befroe leaving the drivethru window at McDonalds. I swear there is nothing that upsets me more than to get home and my order is wrong. So I jsut take a quick second and look before I leave the drivethru.

... doctor prescribed ...

Unless you've already tried it, I highly recommend Nasonex spray. My doc refered to it as a miracle drug. I concur, it's truely amazing. He said it can be used in combo w/ most anything else you're taking. A free sample should be available via doc.

Glad it worked out for you.

It's been interesting to read everyone's replies and suggestions. I'm gonna have to be more careful on my purchases too. I always try to get the box that looks the best and will dig to the back or bottom of a pile to find it if I can. I'll open a box in the isle if I'm unsure about it's packaging, but I've never questioned a factory sealed box.

A major electronics company was caught repackaging items as new about ten years ago. They took returns, sealed them up and sold them as brand new. I bought a hard drive from them with writing on the instructions which didn't work. I returned it for another, but didn't get in on the class action lawsuite. In the end, they had to pay millions, but most of it went to the lawfirms. Nobody that I knew who was involved got anything themselves, but that was too long ago to be sure.

One friend got a settlement from another company for a few grand, but they are allowed to pay it out over a very long time. I think he gets less then $2 a month until it's all paid.

I agree with those that said you could go to another store, or have somebody else buy it for you, but I wouldn't have done it. I think that it's one of those things that will end up in the records and can come back to haunt you. There is more information on us than we'd ever want to know, and just because something isn't supposed to be in your record anymore, doesn't mean it's not there.

A buddy of mine and I went to Canada a few years ago. We were both not allowed into the country because of our criminal histories. I had a DUI 11 years earlier and he'd been arrested for terrorist charges. In my case, I had to prove to the Canadians that I had paid my fine and the case was clear. My court didn't have the records anymore, but faxed them a letter stating that there were no outstanding charges against me. The Canadians had access to my record that the Court who charged me said they didn't have.

My friend cought some tresspassers on his ranch. He confronted them and they got into an argument. During this, he threatened to shoot them if they didn't leave his land. They reported him for threatening him and he was arrested. He spent the weekend in jail and on Monday morniing the judge dismissed the entire thing. He was never charged, or anything, just arrested.

The Canadians had a record of it and he had to prove to them that it was all taken care of. Even then, they wouldn't let him into the country because it had been less then five years from the time of his arrest. He could have appealed it to another court, but that would take a few months and after the five year waiting period was up, he could just pay his $200 Canadian rehabilitation fee like I had to. I was rehabilitated by the Canadian government for my DUI eleven years earlier for $200. hahaha

My point is that it doesn't matter what you think, there is stuff out there about you that never goes away. As landowners, we are very vulnerable to the actions of others on our land and what they do. Soundguy was smart in how he handled it and for those who suggested he do otherwise, be very careful trying it yourself.

I do have a standing prescrip for nasonex, however, I'm pretty sure I have a cold, and my doc told me not to take it while I have a cold, as it is a steroid, and would cause me to heal slower. But yes.. in general I agree.. nasonex opens me up pretty fast usually.

Scary story. just goes to show how long info can stay in a 'history' that follows you around. now that we are in the info age.. i suspect everything we ever do in our lives will be available at the push of a button..

I believe you are correct... the quantity limited meds that I bought I -think- are used in meth production... leave it to the government to have a good idea nad gut it on implementation..

Yep, this is all about stopping Meth production. This stuff is very, Very, VERY bad. And its not just the user that suffers. Making Meth is very dangerous and creates quite a bit of toxic and hazardous waste. You can get killed making meth either from the fumes or an explosion. The waste is often poured down a creek or ditch. Meth uses Nitrogeon(sp) in its production and many a farmer has found his tanks tapped or leaking due to theft. States are kicking up the penalties for Meth production especially if kids are in the house. Its really bad stuff.

I did not know that the Feds had gotten invovled in the limitation of OTC drugs. I thought it was only the states. It is absurd to limit people to a box or two a month though. I would try to buy another box to just see if I could. :D I really can't believe there is a database that would stop me from going to store A and then to B. :D

Dan

SoundGuy would have gottten his pseudoepinephrine much quicker, cheaper, and without all the lengthly hassle if he'd just scored it off his local Meth lab operator......

Dan, I know the meth manufacturers were stealing the anhydrous ammonia from farmers and from the farmers co-op in our area. I guess ammonia, though, is made from nitrogen and hydrogen NH3.
