I was lucky enough one day to take a test drive of a new Unimog a few years ago. As it was one the actual Engineer of the Unimog from Germany was at the dealership, so he too me out.

man what an education I got on these beasts. As we drove around, we stopped and he unhooked the steering wheel and slid it over to me in the passenger set. WOW you can drive from either side.

Then we went by this construction site after a huge rain. He said said pull in over there. Then he said go ahead drive through that puddle ( looked like a small pond to me ). I said are you sure, he said yes. I dropped in up to the doors and it didn't even phase it. He dropped in into a gear that made it crawl at top speed .5 mph.

He said the biggest problem with Unimog is......they build them too well. Once they sell them to a City, Country etc. , they never buy another one because they never ever wear out.

90K was a tab bit out of my range.

Remember when he restored the Zamboni and used it along with his Kubota on the backyard winter skate rink? In fact, in some photo's on the website you can see the Kubota, and I think oneshows part of a Zamboni(Restoration 1).

I think he is still the only TBN member toi have his own Zamboni

Thanks guys for the kind words, here is a little more info on this one. Truck is a 1979 and was restored by Schussler in Germany and was shipped over here in 2009. The new owner suffered a stroke a few months later, so the truck has been sitting since then. From what I have been told, the owner wanted a doka with a big dump box. So Schussler put the truck together with the options he wanted. It has a rebuilt 20 speed transmission that shifts perfectly. A new clutch, two speed PTO with both front and rear 1 3/8" shafts. Front Schmidt plate with bumper, extra diesel fired heater under the rear seat. Custom three way dump box which measures 8'X6.5'. (dumps rear and both sides) The motor has 2258 hours as of today, and is tuned to put out 130 HP. Tires are Conti. MPT81's that have about 95% tread left. Gearing in the axles is standard. I got it up to 59 MPG on the GPS the other day. Truck runs great and has no signs of abuse or lack of maintenance. This truck will be FOR SALE very soon! after I get it cleaned up a bit and fix a few minor things. Asking price will be $55k. Here are a few more photos of it. The yellow one is my daily driver!

I Love it Aaron! He said it has a 3-way dump, so if it doesn't go to both sides... you'd better not be in the cab when he does the forward dump!!!
