Picking concrete with FEL

/ Picking concrete with FEL #21
I dug a ditch across a neighbors asphalt driveway. We cut it with a concrete saw to provide clean lines and dug it out. I've encountered dirt that was harder to dig. The only concrete removal we've done didn't go as smoothly. We had a full size trackhoe, but concrete was full of rebar. We were digging a hole about 30' in diameter. We could bust it out with the trackhoe, but we had to cut all the rebar around the edges.

My 16x32 concrete slab had wire mesh in it so it cut fairly good, still time consuming because each pass was around 1" at a time, if I had rebar in it, might of ruin that diamond blade quicker. Ether way for my L3400, 5"x2'x6' is about all my tractor wanted.

Hey, another Michigan person!

Thanks! I worked in Wyoming 2004-2010

You can get two style forks, floating, (Hang from round pin) and fixed (like on a fork lift). Both have their pros and cons.
You can also get combos that have a grapple attachment.

Willysmb - From my experience a 4 in 1 bucket is the ticket for picking up smallish pieces of concrete slabs (say 30-150 kgs). The easiest way is to back drag with an open bucket and use the inside lip of the front bucket jaw to slide under the concrete. Then slightly lift and dump the bucket, reverse a little more, then close the bucket to capture the piece.
