Yup, after rethinking the whole issue I agree and think slightly wider tires schould be the first step in ordert to be able to drive over the wet lawn at all. I will take some measurements, but as a guestimate i think some added 2 or 3 inches would be Maximum before colliding with the mower deck. That would mean 26X14-12 or max 26X15-12... I just have to find rims and tires of this size somewhere.

regarding leaf-pick-up technique, I am not shure yet. I will first get the deeer mulch kit with the plastic thingy and 3 mulching blades and try that. I currently use gator G6 blades with side discharge and they do not mulch much without any plug at the chute. Then I will look into further alternatives.

I had a mulching kit on my JD. It was great on leaves, but didn't like it for grass. Putting it on and off each season was way too much work. It might work for you OK. If you mulch the leaves, you may need to apply lime to counteract the acid. Winter fertilizer is also a good idea, but fertilizer has gotten so expensive.
