Do you see a lot of snakes in Florida while clearing the land? It just looks "snaky" to me.
Sometimes, but believe it or not , I didn't a one in that bamboo jungle, I imagine I kill quite a few without even knowing it.

When I see your skid steer and cutter it reminds me when I rented a Kubota 95 hp skid steer and bought a brush cutter. In 2 hrs I hit a sink hole on my property.

I spent 5 hrs cleaning the mud from the skid steer and promptly sold the cutter and bought a tractor.
Yeah when you stick one you have done something, especially if you are in a place where you can't hardly get anything close to pull you out, then it's time to break out the winch line and pulling blocks. It looks like you had that tow truck in a bind.

Gosh even up here in PA, I kill a lot of snakes. Sometimes it’s heartbreaking when you kill the beneficial ones, like a big black snake. Usually the Eagle, Hawk or Buzzards clean them up pretty quick.

Got a change of pace today. We are weeks behind on contract mowing. Today was a rare chance at doing some field mowing without a foot of water in the lower parts of the fields.

Cut one of my bigger customers today.

Also cut this steep detention basin.

Better late than never, if it's like it is around here, they are probably just happy to find someone willing to work.

True, but these are mowing contracts.
They have a “performance” aspect to them.
In the pictures above, that customer was promised 4 cuts per year. Once was done end of May. The next was slated for early-mid July, let’s say July 4th. It was mowed July 28th (4 weeks late).

Now I have to “cram” 2 more mowing in in the next 3 months. October is the last growth month here in MY area.

So I would have to cut again in mid September and maybe 1st week of November. Both of those cuts will have little to justify even cutting. Not a good look for me. Not complaining, just a statement of conditions beyond my control.

A month of rain from Father’s day unto mid July just killed our haying and mowing schedules.

Luckily, it’s a long time, understanding customer who probably understands our dilemma.

Yeah, I would think a simple sit down or face to face with that type of customer would suffice, and then there are the customers that if they didn't say anything neither would I. I used to work for an old guy who had lot's of sayings but one that comes to mind is " Never ask a question to management that you don't already know the answer to".

it’s heartbreaking when you kill the beneficial ones,
I find them to all be beneficial ones --- even those that might bite me. Used to have a "pet" red diamondback and that bugger would eat mice to rats like a fat kid in a candy store.
