I think the reason my neighbor keeps hiring guys like you to mow his land every other year, and then lets it get away from him, is because of all the small trees that are in the way of him being able to run his batwing through there. He doesn't agree with me, and I've never pushed it, but everywhere that there his place is open, he mows it almost monthly. I've made it a point to remove as many trees as possible so I have as much room as possible to maintain my open space. I see your pictures and I wonder how long it will remain looking nice, and if they took out those trees, would it be easier for them to keep up with mowing themselves?
Most of the people I do this for are city folks who bought some land and moved out to what used to be the country, most tell me that they want me to come once a year to keep it up, others say that they are going to get a small tractor and bush hog and take care of it themselves all the while swatting and asking me where did all these bugs come from and is it always this hot? I know me or somebody will be getting a call to go back there.

@Lineman North Florida I have a question for you.

Around here, brush hogging small trees causes us problems because the leftover stems become tire killers next time we mow.

Do you ever have that problem with them chewing up your tracks? Your pictures of bamboo mowing made me think of that.

Great pics, by the way.

No sir, somewhere in this thread is a picture of the underside of my cutter and it has carbide teeth on the bottom of the blade carrier and when I back drag over the cut material it pretty well shreds it enough that it's not a problem, fence wire, steel , scrap metal , flint rocks, etc are the things that cause me grief but I try to look stuff over around the edges and look for old corner post's or old homestead's that way I can really be paying close attention in those areas, some of the places I cut are so thick that you can't even walk thru to look at what your getting into.

Well today I went back and finished the lime rock driveway I started a few weeks ago, the customer finally got two more loads of lime rock and I was able to get it spread with my bucket, I'm thinking about getting a land plane for the skid steer, I've heard they make spreading material a breeze.

I just had my 700' driveway topped with asphalt millings. The contractor had a land plane for his skid steer. The belly dumps dropped the loads down the driveway and he used the land plane to spread out and level the millings. It worked very well for him. Afterwards he used his Bomag vibratory roller to tamp it down.

I've always used my bucket, but if it makes it a better finish I probably need to get one.

I think the LP advantage is that it is twice as long as the bucket. It bridges over and fills dips that the bucket wants to fall into.
But - it looks like you did a nice job on this one.

Here is this mornings little project, this customer had a simple dirt/grass driveway/parking area and wanted something relatively inexpensive so I suggested crushed concrete and he agreed so I cut this down about 6" about 5 or 6 weeks ago to remove all the grass and roots and they finally delivered the crushed concrete yesterday so I went this morning and got it all spread and packed down. Sorry I didn't take any before pictures, but here are a couple of after pictures, now I am going to take a week off and go over to the beach where my family has been for the past week and spend some time with them.

We put crushed concrete on our road 2 yrs ago. It wears well and it drains well. But man alive - the dust is unbearable where the traffic is going 20mph. Can't wait to cover it with decomposed granite again... It is due for a layer of material after all our heavy rains last year but the economy is weaker now and the neighbors are tightening their purse strings. Everybody wants to wait. I'm ready

I think it smells like cat pee when being put down. Don't know how long it takes that smell to go away.
