A portent of things to come, too soon for my liking.

I know, I know it's not my driveway but I sure wish it was! Can any of you Texans guess where it's at? The hint is in the second pic and it's near where Eddie Walker went on vacation last month.

These are before and after pictures from the house end of the driveway. Wish I could take credit for the new drive, but our friendly construction guy used his D4 Cat for the heavy work.

Nice pics, folks! :)

The Met Life blimp is parked at the airport. However, the wind has been out of the east so it is cranked around behind a hanger and I cannot see enough of it to take a picture this week. Hopefully the wind will shift this afternoon and I can see it from the end of my driveway and snap a shot tonight.

I have been watching the international space station from the end of my driveway the last few mornings, but it is too faint and too fast and my camera won't gather enough light quick enough to get anything but a blur. :(

Have you seen the web site spaceweather.com? Good info and links regarding the ISS and other space related topics.

Yes I have. Neat stuff.
If you are interested in astronomy there is a really, AND I MEAN REALLY, cool program called Starcalc. It is freeware.

StarCalc Home Page [English]

You plug in your lat and long and the time of day you want to view the sky and it will show you a map of all the stars and planets for that location at that time. Really, really handy tool. If you see some celestial body and wonder what it is, this thing will tell you. My kids and I use it quite often.

We saw about 15 things go across the sky in about an hour a few weeks ago while watching the meteor shower. So I poked around and found this site. Heavens-Above Home Page. It will tell you what all those things moving in the sky are. You know it isn't an airplane, is it a satellite? Is it space junk? This website can tell you what known man-made objects are flying over your house. Really cool. Pretty accurate, too. Always within a couple minutes.

Thanks for the info on StarCalc. I haven't seen that one yet. I have used Heavens Above and it was quite accurate. Now if I could only get accurate notification of local auroras...... :)

There is a site for that, too. I just cannot remember what it is right now, but I am signed up for it. I get e-mail notification each time the sun belches. :D

Well, it took me a month, but here is the tail of the support plane that brought in a bunch of the president's equipment last month.
