Cleaned things up nice. We got about 18-20 inches and I had to leave it for a few days because I didn't have time to get everything with work. Was heavy today after some warmer weather, but the blower and tractor pushed it right out. Does take a while, but I like the results much better than with aplow. Waiting on my pushbox for the front, hopefully be here next week.

I have a 2007 3040 Montana tractor with a quick attach bucket. It痴 a 30hp tractor. I saw someone selling a 7 foot skid steer snowplow. Will that be to big for my tractor or will it handle it ok ? I live in upstate ny we get a good amount of snow. I got 2 feet this past Monday-Tuesday and had to use my bucket because it was to much for my back blade. And the bucket kinda sucks for moving snow.

My 2 cents on this.
I think it will be a bit Heavy for you. Yes, you want 7' min . When plow is angled you need to be wider then your tires. These skid steer plows. FFC and Virnig to name two are heavy 800-1000lbs. Also keep in mind that the Built in Float on the skidsteer plows is fine for the short distance from front wheels to plow but on a Compact tractor, it is a bit minimal since the plow is way out on the loader arms. I Have a skidsteer plow on my tractor (Virnig 'V' 84") I love the quality and sturdiness of it but I really wish it had more float for my stone driveway. I have it on a Backhoe with Quick attach Loader. Not sure where Johnsonville is but I'm up here in Summit come by and evaluate .. I got 2' Monday and about 7" today.

Modified... After thinking about it, I need to Qualify that some plows are probably lighter. I was only thinking of the 'V' plow that I have. It's at 1000lbs.1000lbs, I would think , would be a lot of strain on the Front wheel bearings of a 30Hp machine. I'm jealous of a friends plow that we welded up... His is a light Truck plow that we welded up to a Quick Attach Blank panel. We used the chains from the old plow for plenty of float. Between the large float and the lighter weight, he barely scalps his driveway at all where I'm always on the Tractor arms lifting and dropping for a crappy plow job.

7' Western is very well balanced in 'float' on my JD 4300.

This video on an opening run down to the highway makes the 7' blade look small, but maybe this winter I'll get a better one if I get the GoPro working for YouTube

It's mostly a tool that opens/spreads your end links that attach the cross links to the long side chain. Helpful when replacing or adding cross chains (links). It also closes them, in other words what you would do with a hammer & chisel, a miserable job. in the pic below, the closing side is to the bottom rt. of the "head". the opener is the other towards the top end. Any cutting is still done with bolt cutters or a cut off wheel in a small grinder.

Managed to borrow that tool when I made my rear wheel chains for my 4300. Very handy tool for doing what you describe.

We had one of those tools growing up at the garage my dad owned. Used it quite a bit as we maintained a few plow fleets. Worked great.
I was actually looking for it a couple weeks ago when I fit my new chains on the B2650. No one knows where it went. Most wouldn’t know what it was for. Had to use a hammer and chisel to spread the loops.
