very dangerous and rickety half rotten wood platform in a 100yo silver maple tree, 12 feet off the ground, with a piles of bud bottles, burger king wrappers, spent shell casings and shells, tattered walmart fabric rolls used for windbreaks - all in the middle of a USGS designated wetland a mere 60 yards from my barn

Perhaps if you posted a picture of this monstrosity, we could get a better feeling for the problem you are facing. It seems odd that it would get in this decrepit state so soon after being built.

I don't believe I've ever seen a tree stand with that much trash. Please, post a picture.

John ... Strange request. I will in fact post a pic of the blind. I personally cleaned the trash up a while back, but this weekend I'll snap a pic or 2 - for whatever it's worth.

Again ... who built the blind, when they built it, what condition it is in and how big it is - is irrelevant. It's too close to my property and it's active.

Simply put, its existence may not be breaking any laws, but the individuals using it have broken the law and are infringing upon the security of my family and my home. Whether they own the land or are trespassing -- I couldn't care less.

Stay tuned.

Been reading this And it brings to mind a story when i was zonning adminitrator in our township. A guy that owned a LOT in a rural subdivion came to me and wanted to see if he could build his house on the lot line. see he had a half acre and where he would have to build he would have to cut down a couple of trees so if he could get a varience to build on the lot LINE he wouldn't have to cut down his trees. I told him that I was sure that he wouldn't beable to get a variance for that because it would be infriging on the other property owner, AND he proceded to till me that NOONE OWNED THAT PROPERTY. That it was vacant land. I tried to tell him that someone owned it but he never did get it. People come out here into the country and think they can buy a lot and then they own all the vacant land next to them. SORRY but you only own the land you pay taxes on. Just because there is gov land , or vacant land next door DOES NOT mean that you can control what other do on that land.
I am a animal lover and have owned animals all my life. But with ownership comes reponsibilty. I'm not saying that this is the case here but somany times people let there dogs out to do there thing and think that they are right in the back yard. SORRY but they are probably over on the property next door. Yes I have shot dogs, TWO a couple of years back that had a fawn tearing the guts out while it was still alive. They had collars and were well fed and doing what dogs that are alowed to run do. THE OWNERS WERE TO BLAME. I see dogs all the time that have been hit by cars. Know where your animals are and be responsible and they will be ok.

In the area where my camp is there are still several large parcels for sale. I can not even tell you how many times some of the other land owners have said to me " do you think they would mind if we went over there ? no one ownes it right ? " I just pull my hat down and mozey on. If any one ever finds any of that land "no one" ownes can you let me know where its at ? please. Dave

I'd put a blaze orange blanket on the pets to be safe. I know it shouldn't be your responsibility to protect your pets from an "idiot". In a way it's like seatbelts in your car. You have no intention of driving off the road and the other guy has no intention of running into you. But you know the potential exists and take prudent precautions just in case. Just my two cents worth.

Ya its like someone buys a lot and moves a trailer in and the farmer that has been farming next door for 100 years spreads some manure and they try and take him to court and shut down his farming operation because he is making the air stink. People have to realise that if they want to control the land they had better buy it. I have 22 acres next to me that is exellant deer habitat and it was just sold and it is really going to hurt my Deer hunting BUT I didn't feel it was worth it to me to buy it for what they wanted. So I just have to live with it.

I think the orange blankets are a good idea. There has really been a lot of good ideas posted. You know its funny how people want to worry about what the other fellow is doing. I live in the typical sub urban neighborhood that less than 10 years ago was the best deer hunting around. I sat on the neighborhood board here and in another sub as well. I have been to so many meetings and heard " we gotta get after farmer green jeans next door because he does this or that and it's against OUR rules ! lol. You just can not make some people get it. We have our local township board meetings televised. Every single flippin meeting their is a president or a board member from another sub trying to get the township to enforce "Their Rules" on the people next door that have lived their for years. In the words of John Stossel " Give me a break !" . Dave

Sorry but if think that by Your trespasing is ok and distroying other peoples property is ok that makes you worse then your PERSIVED threat. Your property and animals HAVEN"T been hurt but you have already admitted to trespasing and distroying the blind on others property. If you feel that laws are being broken call the proper atthorities and let them that care of it. Don't be a threat and cause trouble. If it was mine blind it would have been a very expensive blind to you in court. You have no bussiness over there just like noone has any bussiness on your property.
Sorry if this seems harsh, sometimes what a person is trying to get accross on the net comes over different than the way they feel. not trying to cause hard feelings
