Pine Straw Rake

I spent many hours, as a youth, pulling a dump rake similar to that behind our 8N Ford. The large tines run nearly parallel to the ground and do an excellent job of picking up the hay while barely touching the soil. The tines on this type of rake are about 1/2" in diameter and pointed. Our rake was typically dumped by pulling a rope from the tractor but could also be tripped by someone riding on the seat. The only problem with that is the seat had holes in it large enough to let ones butt get pinched severely. That was truly an unforgettable experience.

When I have that problem or I am using it to dethatch I hang two of the 42# front weights on the rake which is enough to hold it down.

Which kind of weights are you you referring to for this application?
Thanks

My mower uses the Deere 42# suitcase weights, I justlay them down and hook them around the top mast. They stay in place with no problem.
