Most muffler shops can make bends in heavier grade pipe. About 10 years ago, I was told $3.00 a bend when i was making a Roll Cage
not sure what they charge now?

That's a good thought, may just go that route. I have a 8 ton jack that I hardly ever use , wouldn't mind making one out of it if anybody has any plans they used .

Yea! I saw the add but read the reviews and it was really bad, china junk, and good ones from. USA are 600 I figured I could made one , I have plasma cutter and welder, just wanted some previous builders input if possible, I figured I could make it much solider than a factory .

I've made many tools in my day including tubing notchers, hydraulic press's and press brakes but found when it came to benders it was cheaper to by one rather than build it. I have at least six different types of benders ranging in price's from $99. To $10.000. Those 16 ton Chinise benders are actually really good. I've made heavy roll bars with them and they make great bends. Yes they are slower than the more expensive ones but they can still get the job done.

Here's the cheapie one that I've owned for years and the most expensive one I own is pictured. I still use the Chinise one on mobile jobs. These go on sale at time's with $100. off

Here's another example of a pipe bender I have here. This one bends from 1/2" -3/4" plus it will bend some square tubing. Less than $300. To buy.

Why don't you fill the pipe with sand, heat it and bend it the way you want ?

Any cheap non die bender will kink the pipe if you try and bend it too far. Filling with sand and heating is looking for trouble, it can explode!
You need a follow through die bender to make clean kink free bends.
Good luck,

Wow 4 shorts that blue on is nice, but that's out if budget. Although I would like to have it , I think I'm going to order the one from princess's tools, it looked pretty good for my purpose. Thanks everybody.

I got plans a while back for a hydraulic mandrel bender, was a great design and would probably cost about $2-300 to build the bender, but then you still have to buy dies. They are the expensive part, I think they ranged another $200-350 depending on size, and of course you need a new die for each size tubing you want to bend.

Thanks. I realize its not what your looking for. It's just to show what can be spent on this sort of thing and even higher than that. That large one is Canadian built. It can bend up to a 3" pipe but so can the princess auto one and the HF one. The 16 ton will last you for years. As I said. I still have mine and use it from time to time. Good luck.

I dont think that 16 ton princess bender is going to do much good on 2in sch40 pipe. I have one and quite frankly, for anything more than muffler pipe or thin wall stuff, its a real pain to use. Only thick stuff I have tried has been 1in boiler tubing and I had to lay the heat to it to get it to bend.

I was wondering how it would look to weld 2 in 90s on the ends for the bends and them grind down th welds, or would it be to tacky looking, I don't want it to look bad, hard to pic what it would look like , anybody done that?

Somethings wrong. I used 2" schedule 40 pipe when I made the pipe rack for the Miller trailer I built and It bent it for fun. Yes it's slow going and your better off making a stand to put the bender on but it's a tough old bender.
