Pistol Safety

Living in the country, one can find themselves mowing some distance from the house, for us, often up to a mile away, so I usually take a handgun with me, but with a cab, it is pretty easy to carry one. I never came up with a good way on an open station tractor and my guns always got pretty dirty.

Well, if you want to carry a pistol in harsh conditions, carry a Glock. Very robust and very easy to strip for cleaning...

I have never found a need to keep a round chambered around the house, only time when I have a hot round is hunting and going to town, both of those instances allow me to be fully aware of where my firearm is at all times, where as round the house I am more likely to be involved with something else, physically and mentally.

Of course it all depends on where ya live I recon.

There is a nearby piece of property that harbors a band of criminals that a local LEO calls the most dysfunctional humans that he has ever encountered. The last time LEOs served a search warrant, they found stolen property ranging from a bull dozier to guns. (No one living on the premises could legally posses a firearm.) Seems they teach their young that meth is one of the seven basic food groups.

Then there are wild hogs. While hogs pose no threat to a tractor driver, we do occasionally stop and walk the fences, etc.

The preferred method for south Mississippi zombies is crystal meth, there are meth lab busts in the news here almost daily.

Us normal folks just drink beer:thumbsup:
