I have never been shot, but if the bad guy was hit by a CC in the vest or anyplace else, he may think he has a hole in him and that would throw his concentration off considerably, giving time for others to escape, like Dan said, and to zero in on him better. I have heard of cases where someone takes bullet and don't even know it because of the excitement and also people who weren't shot and thought they were. Chances are he would run.

Guys all you have to do to experience the man on man with a weapon that fires projectiles is play paintball.

We had 3 paintball fields here at my shop that were open to the public. I was team captain on a novice 5 man competition paintball team and my job on the field was right back man now that is fun and is valuable experience. Local law enforcement and a National guard unit came out and used it for simunition training in my car and building setup.

It is not going to replace live fire but its close and I will tell you for sure based on my experience with teaching people to play the game the average person is NOT going to stand in front of a gunman and take fire it takes training.

And to further this discussion of "what if" why would a person have to have a gun on him to engage this guy or any mad man??? Why would you have to use a gun why not flank the guy and jump him its all talk my .002. The whole assumption is based on not having to get too close to stop the threat with a pistol am I wrong?

when i do paintball.. I wear my bullet proof vest and a 'cup' plus armoured gloves and kevlar armings that I use when chainsawing... some of these guys with hot compressed air rigs are shooting way over speed.. a close range shot hurts...

My sons have the compressed air setup and while they try to keep the power down, I have seen some really bad whelps.

Lifer here. Here's an excerpt from Obamie's comments "there are dozens gunned down on the streets of Chicago or Atlanta, here in New Orleans. Violence plagues the biggest cities, but it also plagues the smallest towns.” It's the same words spoken by police cheifs against handguns. They then all complain that's it's
black on black crime.
Why do they elide the fact that all that killing is black on black when the start puhing new feel good laws? Why not just pass laws outlawing blacks from owning handguns, fake assault rifles, etc?
Not very policitcally correct, but true enough.

If they are ever going to pass another gun law, maybe it should be with the physiatrist, If you are treating someone that has a mental problem report it to the ATF. If I let my auto insurance expire here in Oklahoma, it's the law that the insurance company HAS to report it to the dept. of public safety. Then the state suspends your drivers lic.
This guy on colorado was being treated for mental health problems and the doctor could have notified, someone.

Psychiatry is a very inexact profession...more or less one person's opinion based upon what? A mood? I would be very very leary about this being allowed without some kind of safeguard to ensure the shrink wasn't involving his own personal beliefs and prejudices in any decision.

Noted.
Here is what I see month after month at the local pistol matches and it happens to the best of them. People shoot low or they shoot all over the place except where they should. That is my premise mainly the innocent bystanders in between the bad guy and the good guy.

I agree,I shoot IDPA/USPSA alot and consider myself a decent pistol shot,I also understand it is very hard to shoot accurately under stress. It takes alot of practice to be able to do it well. The person who shoots only a few times a year is not going to do well.
Anyone who carries should try a IDPA OR A USPSA shoot it will be a eye opening if you do not practice alot.
