I have a 1445, older model, and the welds have seperated from the pivot rod. which is supposed to be welded to the lifting arms. The 2" pin and sleeve seem frozen together. I have pounded on the pin with a 5 lb hammer, but it won't move at all. Anyone have any good suggestion as to how to get the pin out of the sleeve. I know I could cut it off with a torch, but I want to try and save the sleeve assembly. I have soaked it with WD-40 for two days, and pounded on the sleeve to try and loosen it. The sleeve does not seem to be bent.

I also broke the pivet pin (see attached photo) and sent the entire lift arm to Tazewell as it is under warrenty. I tried to hammer the pins out to no avail. Wanted to reduce weight for shipping.

PB Blaster is good - better than WD-40.
Have you tried heating the sleeve before you apply the persuader?

Not sure as to exact cause but suspect it happened when using the mini hoe which has tremendous down pressure. I had the pivot pin welded twice before it finally cracked in two.

I use my machine pretty hard also and wonder about the popping and cracking noise I here from the front lift arm. I inspect the center section often so far I see no damage.

My pivot doesn't have that extreme ^ like your's, but mine definitely has a ^!! /forums/images/graemlins/frown.gif

Terry said to send the lift arm assembly to Tazewell for repair, but I am using it too much to tear it apart right now!!

In an earlier post, if I remember correctly, you said that Terry told you that there hadn't been enough weld applied to your pivot. In this picture do you think that could be my problem too!!???!! /forums/images/graemlins/confused.gif

The weld was a temporary fix. I knew it would only be a matter of time before I had to send it in for repair. Like you I have so many projects waiting that I continued to use it. The break made the decision for me.

When mine broke I could hear a poping noise like a weld breaking. When I greased it the grease came out between the two arms where it hadn't before. Before it came out the ends of the sleeve only. It was mine that they said only had one pass weld on it instead of the three that was supposed to be there. They fixed mine and it has been working good ever since but I have only put about 20 hours on it since I got it back.
