PJ Deckover Trailer Questions

Runner,

Put a Reese Titan 18000 lb weight carrying (1800 toungue weight) hitch on your truck and that toungue weight wil be no problem. I pull a 23' + 5 14K deckover that weighs around 4500# empty and 11,500 loaded. My tow vehicle is 08 F350 SRW crew cab long bed V10, which has tow rating of 12500# in the bumper pull mode.

Marty,

Do you find that trailer causes a significant amount of rear end squat? Do you use a weight distributing hitch or air bags on the rear suspension? Do you have to watch how you load the trailer, i.e., keep the weight towards the rear?

Any pictures of your rig, truck and trailer together?

Thanks for the feedback.

Runner, On the web check out Jarco Ent. They sell Sure-trac and have a nice website where you can get more info and pictures of various sure-trac trailers. I just bought an 18' c-channel car hauler from them. Very nice people. They are in Fairmount, W. Va. Too far from you I realize but at any rate, check out their website. Jim

I have one of those on my 2004 F-250 4x4 PSD. I put it on when I bent and cracked the factory hitch. My 06 F-350 I ordered with Fords version of the Titan Hitch that is 2.5" instead of the normal 2".

You will bread the truck or trailer before the hitch fails.

This is the car hauler I just got plus a few upgrades (sealed lighting, 7k drop leg set back tongue jack, brake upgrade).

Thanks Chris,, My 4th Sure-trac! Still have 2 others. They're made in your home state of Indiana! Im pretty picky and I've been impressed with their quality. They recently invested 250k in a bead blast operation to remove mill scale from steel to further improve on the finish (powdercoated). Fit and finish of my new one is very good. Jim

I've had a PJ 8x24 14K deckover for almost 3 years now. About mid range quality and lower price than others. My old trailer was a 18' bobcat style. The extra mobile fenderless RE is handy when moving pallets of materials.

I'd confirm about 5-600lb tongue HOWEVER that tool tray in front carries ratchets, chains, straps, and a jack + I welded a steel cover, tire carrier & added a spare tire.

Now my yard trailer tower 455 JD lawnmower with a 3pt lift will not lift it much & I added about 150 lbs on it's front bumper to keep the front wheels down. So the road ready tongue weight is closer to 800-1000. I move it with the lawnmower when I mow under it.

My tow vehicle is a 1 ton dually dump. A powered dump box is much more valuable to me than a gooseneck trailer.
