Place to get a spare key made???

far left looks like mine and i ordered one from a guy on ebay from that link that was posted i believe the key i bought showed up in there. It was like 3.99 and 1.5 to ship i tried several places and no one had a blank. My current key is a toyota blank but no one has that toyota key and a mitsu blank would fit it but when lowes cut it it would only go in not turn? Ill check ace hopefully they will work that would be cheaper. But atleast i have 2 keys now.

Those old worn locks can be pretty touchy. I had to replace mine because the power kept going out, and the old key would not work in the new lock nor the new key in the old lock, although they appeared identical.

Yep thats the same one I have, I had them make like 4 or 5 of them.

I had an extra key made at a locksmith shop. After a little touch up with grinder by them, it worked fine.

Never had an issue with keys. Since I bought my tractor the key has been permanently stuck in the ignition. Doesn't seem that the previous owner had ever taken it out so it grew roots there. Tried PB blaster among other things and it refuses to come out. Just as well 'cause I'd misplace it anyway

Had keys made at Ace hardware. They found keys that were for Kimatsu or however it's spelled and it worked perfect.

Just registered so I could contribute to this thread. The hubby bought a Yanmar 2200 this week and today the key broke off in the ignition. After no luck at the hardware store (and the dealer said they only get 1 key per tractor), I checked the google, found you guys and was just about to order from eBay. Then he came in and said he got it started with a screwdriver!

Not sure that'll be our permanent solution, but thought I'd share...

Hi Fay welcome to the friendly Yanmar forum of TBN. Trust that you will frequent our forum with questions and answers. You have already learned about the search feature!! With the key broken off in the lock you can use about any flat object to turn the key switch. Some guys leave this as the permanent solution. I would rather be able to pull my key at night. Not that it would be that hard to start without the key totally.

How did the key break off in the ignition? Is the lock bad, (warranty?), or did something hit the key? In either case, it sounds like you need a new ignition switch.

He was able to get the key out, so I think he was using just the screwdriver. Actually now he's custom-made something out of something he had lying around because the screwdriver was too bulky to carry around and because he likes to do that kind of thing.

He was just trying to start it up this morning and after a few tries, the key bent and broke. I do think he ordered a new ignition from the dealer.
