Mahindra 1635
I have a Mahindra 1635 and the front/back joystick cable is sticking when returning to center from backwards... if that makes sense. When I pull the stick back towards me to raise the loader up, when I let go it does not return to center all the way and will continue raising on its own and will do it when you don't realize it. It has been a safety hazard for a while because whatever is on the loader will be up in the air if you're not paying absolute 100% attention to it. It will especially do it on its own if you rev the engine up, with you barely even having to touch the stick. It ONLY does it going from backwards to center. Front to center, side to side, it doesn't do it.

I JUST put a new control cable on it today thinking that was the problem, nope. Adjusted the cable every way possible and it still does it. Lubricated the cables. There is a troubleshooting section in my manual, but I really don't understand half of what it is saying. It talks about a loader valve spool and I don't know what that is. And replacing a centering spring but doesn't tell me where it is/how to find it. The last suggestion talks about end caps of valve are not centered and tells you how to "fix" it. So I did that and still did not fix it.

I attached photos of the troubleshooting procedures in my manual, and also a parts diagram to help paint a picture of what I'm looking at on my tractor. The two plunger looking things at the end of the block highlighted in red are what is pictured in the manual. I really just don't know what to look for/try anymore and I really cant afford to take it to the local dealer and pay an arm and a leg for them to fix this. I have a hard time believing its the whole hydraulic valve/block because if so I feel like I would be experiencing problems with the entire hydraulic system and not just this one particular issue.

If anybody has any suggestions, ideas, or if somebody wants to translate the manual for me I would appreciate anything at this point.

With tractor off and loader on the ground Totally disconnect the control cable from the valve and then push and pull the spool and see if it returns to center or feels different one direction vs the other. If centering spring is not working you should be able to feel it.

If no danger of getting hurt you could also try moving the spool with engine running to see if it returns to center.

If not centering then to access
The spring assembly you need to remove that cover held on by the two bolts. Not knowing how that valve centering spring assembly and detent is made I would be very careful removing that cover since there may be detent balls and spring that will fall or fly out.

Nothing internal in the valve would cause this problem.

Lubricate it. Real simple fix.
If you would read the post fully you would have saw that I already did that and it didn't fix it.

I just took some videos of my tractor, took the cable back off and did what you said. But I can't post videos on this website. Do you mind if I send it to an email or something? I pulled and pushed on the spool and it seemed to return back to center on its own but would like to show you the videos because I dont know much about this

Are you able to load video to you tube and include a link from here?

Other posters seem to be able to do this.

When you were moving the spool did it feel like there was any position when there was no spring resistance or a sudden change in resistance?

Does the float detent work properly?

I am not sure if the end of that cap is supposed to turn freely or not.

From the video, it almost look like the spring and detent assembly is loose in the spool. I can tell there is play on the spool when it should be spring loaded.

At 0:27, you can see about 3 mm of movement, before there is actually a spring pulling back as the OP pulls out.
