There is a very good article to read about back and spinal cord surgery recovery in last months GuidePosts magazine. Your whole family needs to read about the miracle of recovery from this type of injury. It suggests that attitude is a large part of the healing and recovery process.

In my own, direct, experience, this is also a good way and a great opportunity to transform your 'stepdaughter' into your 'daughter', too. In the end, the 'step' relationship term is a blackeye that does not need to be there. I was lucky enough to experience this 'happening'.

Best wishes, you are in good hands ! (Go get a copy and read it !).

Loving Father, we entrust Stephanie to your care this day; please guide the hands of the surgeon and all the medical team, and grant that she may be restored to good health. With the love of her step-father Mark, family and friends. The power of prayer. Through Jesus Christ. Amen.

Worth repeating.
Prayers sent from SW FLA.

I just saw this a bit late, but now I'm hoping and praying the surgery went well and her recovery is full and complete. I know many people with similar operations that have turned out well.

I don't know how I failed to see this thread until just now, but we'll certainly have Stephanie in our thoughts and prayers and hope for a full and speedy recovery.

I have very good news From Canton Ohio. Stephanie's came out of surgery with flying colors. The doctor was successfully able to fuse her 6th and 7th vertebrae without any perceptible nerve damage. She was able to move arms, legs, fingers, and toes after the surgery. When I left her she was sleeping soundly. Her mother and sister will spend the night with her tonight and hopefully she will be able to come home soon.
I thank each and every one of you from the bottom of my heart. The thoughts and prayers of the members of TBN most certainly played a part in Stepahanie's successful operation and I am sure they will aid in her recovery.

When I got home tonight I was greeted by a ringing telephone. On the other end a man introduced himself as being an eye witness and first responder to Stephanie's accident. The car he was in narrowly avoided a second roundbale and he said he made it to Stephanie's car soon after it came to a stop. He pulled the roof of the car off of stephanie and made her as comfortable as possible until further help arrived. He said he was very careful to make sure he did not move her head or neck because he had suffered a broken back in an accident, and was veteran with first aid experience. I could not thank the man enough as I took his name and telephone number. I truly believe that Stephanie was being watched over.

Thanks again for your thoughts and prayers
Mark
