I feel almost inspired to devise testing procedures for filters and buy a bunch of measurement instruments for pressure, flow, trapping of particles, other parameters that haven't even occurred to me.

Oh wait a minute, these people are already there: Oil Filter Testing | Blackstone Laboratories They'll report on what the filter filtered out by inspecting a used filter. Good for discovering incipient engine failure.

what if you don't buy the filter made in the indonesia sweatshop or wherever? They don't have a job then can't feed their family.
And when your vehicle breaks down due to poor filtration /fitment and you can't get to work to feed your family until you spend thousands to repair or replace it at least you can feel all warm and fuzzy about having fed them.
Funny to see these blanket endorsements for different brands
Wix for one caused a lot of issues for certain Fords with their filters , best to do your research on each application if you buy other than OEM ,, IMO

There is a TV show called How Its Made. They did oil filters. It a much more reassuring depiction of the process. I believe they used the Fram factory in the video. I think it may have been located in Canada.

They’ll take what they’ve learned and move on to greener pastures… motorcycle fuel tanks for example…

It may have been mentioned elsewhere, but "www.bobistheoilguy.com" used to test and rate engine oil, oil filters, etc. I don't know if that site still exists however.

Looks like he's still there!

Looks about as efficient as you can make the process. This is why major equipment manufacturers instruct buyers to NOT fill the filter with oil when changing the oil so any metal particles will be trapped before going into the oil system.
These are highly skilled and likely poorly paid people. I did not like the random length filter media. Not a cell phone, cigarette but or lap top in sight! Some say Mazda on the lable. I heard in the past that all Rad caps for GM vehicles were made in India.

The metal foundry stuff is pretty crazy too.

I bet there's a lineup at the door for when someone looses a finger.

I'm the OP on this and know I saw a name brand filter recently that was made in India or Indonesia and was about to go on a tractor. I remember being surprised.
Likely the tractor was made there too!
