Re: Please! Who makes Kubota\'s oil

Heehaw, on the Amsoil information for the hydraulic oil they mention that it is superior particularly for the wet brake chatter on JD's. Don't know what it is in JD's that cause the chattering, I've only heard it on dry brakes and then its more of a squeal. Rat...

Re: Please! Who makes Kubota\'s oil

Just wanted to add better info than what I stated earlier. Apparently Kubota (should have known) does recommend their own oil for their excavators like the one I have. Had to figure out what was in their and the dealer said ONLY Kubota All Weather Hydraulic Oil I.S.O 46. So since you can't or shouldn't mix oil brands or vis I had to have my local dealer special order it because he never even heard of this oil just UDT and Super UDT etc....They specialize in tractors and don't deal with the construction equipment except for L35 and L48's. So for every Kubota they want their oil in em....FYI.. And how the heck are you supposed to change oil brands etc when you know you can't get all teh oils out of the machine to begin with./w3tcompact/icons/frown.gif /w3tcompact/icons/laugh.gif/w3tcompact/icons/wink.gif

Re: Please! Who makes Kubota\'s oil

Time flies for sure. Thought I would let you all know that when my hydraulic oil did arrive at the dealer it was Mystik (sp?) Now what the heck is that? Any thoughts on this? Probably all this brand with a new shiny Super UDT or UDT label on it. /w3tcompact/icons/laugh.gif Of course I am only throwing things in the air and I DON'T know that at all. WOuld like to hear from others on this not that it matters I guess.

Re: Please! Who makes Kubota\'s oil

Not too sure about the UDT, but I do know from one of the "Big Guys" in the front lines that they generally buy from Valvoline and Quaker State on their engine oil. As far as the UDT goes, I would be curious as well, I think they make their own oil, but ya never know. I would assume because after the initial change of oil, it is gonna go for a lot of hours before requiring any more service, so pay the extra buck or two and get the right stuff. We use Kubota everything.....oil, grease, penetrant spray, I know they don't make it all, but it looks good to the customers when you don't give them a barrel of Chevron Tranny fluid. That in turn makes the customer go buy it direct, rather than coming back. I think it makes the dealership very professional as far as what they are supplying their customer. Back to the UDT though, I would like to know for sure, just out of curiosity sake.

Re: Please! Who makes Kubota\'s oil

In my Kubota 3710 GST, I just changed the hydraulic oil and added the oil recommended for my JD. I asked my Kubota dealer before I changed and he said no problems. I asked him about warranty coverage and he said there wouldn't be a problem. I use JD oil because we have a couple of JD tractors and often intermix oils when using different cylinders, post hole digger, dump trailer etc. It is also easier to just get one kind of oil.

Re: Please! Who makes Kubota\'s oil

I'm somewhat reluctant to weigh in on this but...

I have a L3010DT (gear). When it came time to change the oil, my dealer only had Kubota UDT in 2.5 gl jugs. It was expensive. My dealership has been selling Kubotas for 15 yrs or so, but originally they were an IH shop. They carry Hy-Tran, the CASEIH oil. Their opinion was that it was a better oil. As described to me (I have not done the research), the Hy-Tran has additives that absorbe the moisture in the case and take it into suspension. Kubota oils do not. I am only reiterating what they told me. Therefore any water/moisture collects and rusts things. Well, in reality, so long as the machine is stored under roof like it should be, this shouldn't be much of an issue. But, the Hy-Tran was much cheaper, in 5 gl pails. My dad has been using Hy-Tran in gear tractors for 30 yrs. Seems to work great. Now I know what Kubota recommends. And if it makes you feel good, go for it. I suppose if I had a HST I might think differently. But let's face it, an HST is just a high quality hydraulic pump/motor. It's not a magical beast. I would not use a non-name brand oil, but any of your major flavors that meet the specs (viscosity being the most important) will be adequate. If you think the Kubota name is worth it, pay the bucks. I personally don't think I care what name is on the jug, but is it a quality oil I'm pouring in? Having said that, the few times that you do change the oil, it probably is a cheap warm fuzzy feeling compared to a new HST.

Re: Please! Who makes Kubota\'s oil

Billc claimed that Texaco made it. Why don't you go to this <A target="_blank" HREF=http://www.tractorbynet.com/cgi-bin/compact/showthreaded.pl?Cat=&Board=oil&Number=8449&Search=true&Forum=All_Forums&Words=Texaco&Match=Entire%20Phrase&Searchpage=0&Limit=50&Old=allposts&Main=7452/>link</A> and read a little more about the discussion of UDT vs. Super UDT

Re: Please! Who makes Kubota\'s oil

Darin,
This being my first post I'll get the ugly stuff out of the way first!! My name is Christa and I am a Kubota Dealer....there, I feel better already. While I'm cofessing to my sins, I have been "lurking" on your site for a couple of months now and I really enjoy reading your forums. I have held off on jumping in cuz I have 2 strikes against me from the start 1) I'm a dealer and 2) I'm a girl. Oh well, you all seem quite friendy and open minded(about some stuff!), so here I am.
Getteing back on subject, as of about a year ago, all Kubota oil and fluids are now made by Valvoline. You won't find Super UDT anywhere but in a Kubota jug, however. Super was developed and patented by Kubota and I would highly recomend it for all hydros, especially in COLD climates. The cold weather viscosity is excellent as is the abilty to absorb moisture(rather than icing up). As for the excavator, it is all Hydraulic motors rather than hydrostatic, so it runs the ISO intsead of a UDT. As to the "mystic" never heard of it or seen it on any of Kubota's products????
Well, enough for now, nice meeting you all, I'll try not to bleed too much orange blood all over!!
Christa

Re: Please! Who makes Kubota\'s oil

YES!!!! Finally an answer to a much debated question. Now for another question. I am doing my 50 hour service and the dealer I picked up parts from only had UDT, not the Super UDT. They don't even stock it. The manual says UDT or Super UDT, are we still ok with UDT and why don't dealers stock it?

Re: Please! Who makes Kubota\'s oil

My dealer didn’t stock Super UDT either so I used regular UDT for my first 50 hr maintenance. But I will use Super UDT the next time. I don’t notice much difference except in the winter when things warm up slower. I believe the synthetic is just better and worth the cost. Check Carver equipment and TractorSmart for 5 gal price in the 2.5 gal container. And they will also have the filters you need with great delivery service.
