Plow first or go right to tiller?

I thought about doing something like that to keep the cost down and still be effective too.

A middle buster AKA "potato plow" also can be use to dig for planting rows and of course digging potatoes.I does a nice job of it also. Probably the cheapest and handiest attachment that I have purchased.

Yeah I've heard it does a good job for planing rows. I just didn't know how well it would do to break up ground that hasn't been worked before. It's pretty light and not as heavily built as a single bottom plow.

If you have a plow then I would plow in fall and the rototill in spring as already mentioned. I have broke up grass with a rototiller more than once. If the ground is dry it's hard on the tiller. The best is about 3 days after a good rain. Then the ground is soft but it's not muddy enough to make lumps. We have very sandy soil where I live. Your soil might be different.

I works fine.Cut it as short as possible first.I have done a lot of this.I have a two bottom plow and where I cleared brush it would just ball up with roots;the middle buster did the job.Yes it will take a while to do but it does work.Mine has a lot of hours on it and still going with no problems.

Thanks for all your help guys. Much appreciated. I will look for a middle buster. They are fairly reasonable new, so maybe that route too, unless I find a super sweet deal a single bottom plow.
